Preparing the cheese
▪ Cut the cheese loaf into two equal halves.
▪ Clean of the cheese: If necessary, scrape away the upper, reddish-brown layer rind with a knife. Important:
Do not cut off the rind.
Place the cheese into the cheese-holder
▪ Turn down the cheese holder (A) clockwise around the spindle until the distance to the heating element is
large enough to place the half cheese loaf.
▪ In addition, the cheese holder can be adjusted in height individually (screw B). This is necessary if cheeses
or cheese residues of differing height are used.
▪ Place the cheese in the cheese-holder and secure it with the thumbscrew (C).
▪ Turn the cheese-holder counter-clockwise back upwards. The optimal distance between the cut surface of
the cheese and the heating element is about 2 cm. Note: Raclette cheese made from raw milk should be
melted rather slowly. A somewhat greater distance between cheese and heating is recommended.
Connecting the device
▪ Connect the appliance to the mains.
▪ The heating elements are switched independently. The thermostat (knob D) regulates the right heating
element (E). The signal lamp (F) lights up when the element heats up. At the first start-up, light smoke can
occur during about 30 seconds.
