PI box
box must not be installed into a fully closed casing, lacking of a sufficiently dimensioned
breather hole. For the same reason the devices shall also be protected from intensive heating,
caused e.g. by heating appliances or direct sun radiation. Further, do not expose the PI box
and the FOS devices to a very humid or dusty environment.
The mounting instructions can be found on the drilling template. Initially, only the two central
screws need to be inserted. For mounting, the PI box has to be opened. Firstly, release the
screw in the middle of the upper casing part. Open the device by inserting a screwdriver into
the nuts of the upper part (each two at the right- and left-side casing edge) and press the four
snap-fits inwards. Then remove the upper part. The fiber carrier remains placed on the bottom
casing part. Now thread the four cable straps that are included in delivery through the four
equally-lined openings (there are two each, right and left to the fiber carrier) in the bottom
casing part. Hang on the bottom part and pull it over the two screws. On the top left side there
is a long hole in the bottom casing part, through which now the third hole becomes visible.
Insert the third screw into this opening and tighten it. The PI box has to be fastened with the
third screw to prevent the device from unintentionally being taken off the wall, which may
cause damage to the sensitive optical fiber. At the end (after having installed the optical fibers
– see chapter 2.4), the casing has to be reassembled in reverse order. Operation of the PI box
without upper casing part is not permitted.
