REC MUTE Function
The capability of leaving blank unrecorded
(erased) portions on a tape during recording
is a real advantage in many recording situa-
tions. For instance, you may want to elimi-
nate undesired portions of an FM broad-
cast that you are recording, such as com-
mercial
messages,
station
breaks,
or an-
nouncements.
You may want to record a
complete program with controlled spacing
between each song. Such blank portions on
a tape can be easily left using the REC
MUTE function.
1) Automatic Spacing Operation
During recording, when you want the blank
portion to begin, just press the REC MUTE
switch. The tape movement continues and
the tape is erased for 4 seconds. The deck
then switches to the record-pause
mode.
When you want to begin recording the next
selection, just press the PLAY ( > ) button
and normal recording will resume.
2) To leave a blank portion shorter than
'
Aseconds
If you want to make the blank portion on
the tape shorter than 4 seconds, first press
the REC MUTE switch once during record-
ing and press the PAUSE
button within
4 seconds. The deck will then switch to the
record-pause mode immediately.
3) To leave a blank portion longer than
4seconds
_
Conversely, when you want to leave a blank
portion longer than 4 seconds, simply press
the REC MUTE button twice during record-
ing. The deck will then continue muting
without
stopping
the
tape.
When
the
desired blank portion has been left, press
the PAUSE button and the deck will switch
to the record-pause mode.
AUTO
CALIBRATION
All magnetic tapes have their own individual
characteristics and require a particular bias,
equalization and signal level for optimum
recording. Therefore, for optimum record-
ing
and
playback,
an
auto
calibration
system using a microprocessor is incorpo-
rated in the V-900X. When this is used,
calibration signals are recorded on the tape;
these are then read back to detect the bias
and equalization required by the tape and
the tape's sensitivity. The tape is then re-
wound and these values are used to optimize
the deck's performance.
Auto Calibration Operation
The auto calibration process is done auto-
matically when the AUTO
CAL button is
pressed.
