4 Installation
Installation of the pump unit
Mounting plate
Pump and driving unit are joined on a
square mounting flange in Vertical
position. The driving and driven shafts
are aligned while the set is mounted on
the assembly bed.
Uneven mounting surfaces can cause
the mounting plate to be distorted and
hereby cause misalignment of the shafts.
To alleviate distortion, the foundation
surface is to be leveled just as it is to be
calculated to carry the loads arising from
operation.
Dismantling the pump
Before dismantling the pump
make sure
stopped. Empty the pump of
liquid before it is dismantled
from the piping system.
If the
pumping dangerous liquids
you are to be aware of this
and take
safety precautions.
If the
pumping hot liquids, take
great care that it is drained
before it is removed from the
piping system.
Installation of pipework
No strain should be imposed on the
pump casing either by the weight of
pipes or by tightening badly fitted pipes.
Such strain can seriously affect the
alignment of the pump unit. All pipework
attached to the pump must be the
correct size and fully supported. In

joining the pipework to the pump on no

as this could damage casting and flange.
A removable piece of pipe (preferable
flexible) should be fitted to the intake
and discharge pipework. The removable
intake/discharge pipes should be of
sufficient length to allow removal of the
casing for easy access when renewing
worn parts.
Corrosion
Joining pipes in different materials
should be considered carefully thus to
prevent corrosion in the pump or
elsewhere in the system.
Intake conditions
IMPORTANT: The pump housing is to
be covered with
indicated on the drawing in chapter 8.
Make sure that the liquid does not
contain impurities/particles of a size
exceeding 5 mm.
Discharge conditions
IMPORTANT: The discharge pipe must
be fully supported.
IMPORTANT: When fitting the pipework
to the intake and discharge flanges of
the pump it is imperative to use
appropriate joint rings for effective seal
between those. Consider media as well
as temperature conditions.
IMPORTANT: Care should be taken not
to overtighten the flange bolts thus
preventing damage to the joint rings.
