Smoke detector – RMR
specialist personnel, see chapter „1.10 Personnel qualification" on page 3.
― Functional and visual inspections must be carried out at least once annually in
accordance with the maintenance instructions.
For maintenance and inspection work on hazard warning systems please observe the
regulations of the country, in which the system is operated. For example:
― Germany DIN VDE 0833-1/-2 and DIN 14675
― Swiss VKF guidline and the technical guideline SES (TR SES)
― Austria OENORM F 3070
For inspection intervals, the national regulations partially refer to specifications of the
manufactuerer.
Functional and visual inspections must be carried out at least once annually in
accordance with the maintenance instructions and according to the following
criteria:
― Visual inspection of mounting.
― Visual inspection of duct smoke detector (damage and contamination).
― Visual inspection of duct smoke detector labelling.
― Inspection of the monitoring area (free space around the duct smoke detector is not
restricted).
― Triggering the detector with test gas (aerosol).
― Inspection of alarm LED and the alarm channel from the detector to the evaluation
unit.
If the annual inspection results in a faultless evaluation of functionality, the duct smoke
detector can remain in service up to max. 5 years. The duct smoke detector must be
replaced after this service time.
Smoke detectors which are clearly heavily contaminated or mechanically damaged must
be immediately replaced.
Earlier replacement or servicing and maintenance may be necessary in particularly
dusty environments!
52 Resetting smoke detector
Resetting takes place when the duct is free of smoke by briefly interrupting the supply
voltage.
Procedure for resetting:
1. Remove the triggered smoke detector.
2. Blow out the detection chamber.
3. Screw in the smoke detector
4. Reset the system.
53 Standstill and disposal

Danger to life due to electric shock!
When dismantling, live parts can be exposed, which can result in electric shock
if touched Before dismantling, isolate the unit from the mains power supply and
protect against being switching on again!
Parts and components of the unit, whose service life has expired, e.g. due to wear and tear, corrosion,
mechanical load, fatigue and/or other effects that cannot be directly discerned, must be disposed of expertly
and properly after disassembly in accordance with the national and international laws and regulations. The
same also applies to auxiliary materials in use. Such as oils and greases or other substances. The intended
and unintended further use of worn parts, e.g. impellers, rolling bearings, filters, etc. can result in danger
to persons, the environment as well as machines and systems. The corresponding operator guidelines
applicable on-site must be observed and used.
Please think of the environment, you can make a significant contribution to the environmental protection
by returning batteries and accumulators!
