Smoke detector – RMR
1�9 Area of application
Optical smoke detector with an optical measurement method for earliest fire detection
and indication within buildings according to EN 54-7. The smoke detector detects the fire
characteristics smoke.
Monitoring area of smoke detector depends on ceiling construction (Height and
slope, according to country specific planning guidelines)�
1�10 Personnel qualification
Installation, servicing, maintenance, removal, assembly, repairs and the installation of
spare parts may be carried out by qualified personnel (e.g.: industrial mechanics, mecha-
tronics engineers, metal workers or persons with compatible training) with the exception
of electrical work. All electrical work must only be carried out by qualified electricians.
Operating, simple maintenance and cleaning work on the unit (e.g. filter replacement,
maintenance of the condensate drain) must only be carried out by instructed end users.
1�11 Project planning
For project planning please observe country-specific guidelines for planning and installa-
tion of smoke detectors for fire detection.
2�1 Function
Optical smoke detector for conventional systems with an optical measurement method
for earliest fire detection and indication according to EN 54-7.
― LED for alarm (red).
― Integrated locking system for the protection against removal and tamper.
― Professional smoke detection system with highest reliability for a secure alarm verifi-
cation with 3-fold measurement.
― Intelligent signal processing and supression mode for disturbance variables to avoid
false alarm.
― Periodic sensor test.
― Alarm output to control parallel indicator.
3�1 General installation instructions

Before any maintenance or installation work, the unit must be fully isolated from
the power supply and secured against unintended restart!

All work on/in the unit may only be carried out by qualified personnel in accor-
dance with "1�10 Personnel qualification" on page 3�
The smoke detector is installed surface-mounted using the enclosed detector base.
The included protective cover can be attached during construction/renovation phase to
protect the smoke detector.
The smoke detector must be protected against contamination and damage!
3�2 Electrical connection

Before any maintenance or installation work, the unit must be fully isolated from
the power supply and securedagainst unintended restart!
The electrical connections and electrical commissioning may only be carried out
by qualified electricians (see chapter "„1�10 Personnel qualification" on page
3) according to the information in the following wiring diagram SS-1146�
The relevant national standards, safety regulations and instructions (e.g. DIN EN VDE
0100) as well as the technical connection conditions of the energy supply company must
be observed!
