7 • USE OF THE KINETEC PLASTIC SUPPORT
The KINETEC HYGIENIC pads are designed for rapid fitting, optimal hygiene and maximum patient comfort.
- To use and position the pads, please refer to drawing number 7.
WARNING: place the notch cut into the pad at the knee joint.
For cleaning instructions, see paragraph12.
8 • ADJUSTING FOR THE PATIENT
- Place the KINETEC Adventa+ machine in a position that will be comfortable for the patient.
- Measure the length of the patient's femur (L); and adjust the thigh support to this measurement using knob (1).
- To install the patient on the KINETEC Adventa+ machine,
push the foot plate (C) up to the patient and tighten the knob (24).
- Secure the foot into the boot.
IMPORTANT
Adjust the axis of the patient's knee (19) with the axis of rotation (20) of the KINETEC Adventa+.
9 • POSITIONING THE FOOT PLATE
The articulated foot plate allows the positioning of the foot in PLANTAR or DORSIFLEXION and the leg in EXTERNAL or
INTERNAL ROTATION
- The knob (3) allows the foot to be positioned in plantar flexion or dorsiflexion.
- The knob (21) allows the leg to be positioned in external or internal rotation.
- The knob (22) allows the verticle adjustment of the foot.
10 • MAINTENANCE
After 2,000 hours of working time, the KINETEC Adventa+ machine will need to be serviced (lubrication of the articulation
joints, ball bearing nut and drive screw). The message SERVICE !! will appear on the hand control, when the unit is turned
on, to indicate that the service interval has been reached.
You can continue use your KINETEC machine by depressing the START/STOP key. It is important that your KINETEC
specialist is contacted to perform the maintenance operation.
At the end of the machines life, please return it to the manufacture, with all of the accesories for proper destruction.
11 • IF A BREAKDOWN
If a spare parts catalogue and/or service manual is needed, please request it from your KINETEC distributor.
If, after connecting the power cord to the KINETEC Adventa+ machine and switching the machine ON (6),
• the display is blank:
- Ensure that the wall power outlet is energized.
- Check the fuses in the power receptacle (23) using fuses of the same type and value: 2 fuses T 500 mA 250V (6.3x32mm ).
- If the display does not indicate any information after following these steps, contact your KINETEC specialist.
If, after switching the power on to the KINETEC Adventa+ using the switch (6) :
• your machine fails to operate and the display indicates 15 STOP 25 110, press the START/STOP key once again
• If your machine still fails to operate, contact your KINETEC specialist.
• If any of the following messages persist after switching the machine off and on again, and depressing the START/STOP
key, contact your KINETEC specialist,
- SERVICE D1 (failure of the copy potentiometer or cable)
- SERVICE D2 (failure during motion)
- SERVICE D3 (failure of motor direction or excessive current consumption),
12 • CLEANING
First, switch the CPM unit OFF and disconnect the power cord from wall outlet and the input receptacle.
Spray a DISINFECTANT product (i.e., PROPANOL/ISOPROPANOL or ALDEHYDE solution) on the SURFACES (leg
support, plastic covers and metal parts).
For optimal hygiene, clean the pads after each patient, or all of the device's consumable pads may be thrown away.

14 • GUARANTEE LIMITS
The KINETEC guarantee is strictly limited to free replacement or to repair of the part or parts acknowledged as defective,
at the Smith & Nephew factory.
Smith & Nephew Kinetec guarantees its passive motion device against any manufacturing defect for 1 year from the date
of purchase by the consumer.
Smith & Nephew Kinetec alone is qualified to judge whether the guarantee applies to the specific problem.
The guarantee connot be applied if the apparatus has been subjected to abnormal use or has been used in circumstances
other than those stipulated in our user manual.
The guarantee will not be applied in case of deterioration or accident due to negligence, lack of supervision or maintenance
or an attempt to repair the equipment by unquallified personell.
