Playback by cassette recorder 1 or 2
— Select the type of tape used (cassette recorder 2).
— Make sure that button 7 is released.
— Press the play button:
p. 2 for cassette recorder 1 or,
» 14 for cassette recorder 2.
Playback of two cassettes in succession
— Make sure that button 19 is released.
— Press the play button P> 2 on cassette recorder 1, then P> 14 on
cassette recorder 2, or vice versa.
When the first cassette has been played, the second cassette will
begin to play.
Pause
You can temporarily stop recording or playback in progress by pres-
sing the pause button II 17 or 5.
Press it again to resume recording or playback.
Tape stop
The tape stops automatically when it reaches the end. To stop
recording, playback, fast rewind or fast forward functions on progress
press button W À 18 or 6. The cassette holder flap is opened by
pressing this button again.
Fast forward or fast rewind
With the unit stopped press:
Button kk 16 or 4 >» it remains locked in: the tape runs forward fast.
Button #4 15 or 3 << it remains locked in: the tape rewinds.
Tape counter
Note: Cueing using the tape counter is only possible on cassette
recorder 2.
It enables you to find a given position easily on the cassette being used.
— You can reset the counter by pressing button 27.
Record
— Choose between the new, highly effective noise-reduction system
Dolby C NR system or the Dolby B NR system which has been in
use for years.
Tape recordings using the Dolby C NR system can basically also be
used with cassette decks which are only equipped with the Dolby
B NR system. Treblehowever is over-emphasized.
— by depressing the reset button 27, the counter is set to "000".
a) From different signal sources (for example: record player, radio,
second tape recorder, digital audio disc player) connected to your
amplifier. The latter is connected to sockets 32.
— Check that there is no microphone connected to socket 10 and that
button 19 is released.
b) From a mono microphone: Connect the latter to jack 10. Make
sure that button 19 is released.
Recording level setting
—
Press the pause button IM 17 and the record button @ 13; the
indicator light 29 comes on.
— Adjust the recording level, for both channels, by means of control
21.
— Use control 23 to balance the recording level, in mono sound.
The level indicator lamps 31 for the left channel and 30 for the right
channel, light up in proportion to the modulation of the signal. They
should light up in the area situated between "— 15" et "+ 3".
Note: Light "+ 3" should not remain permanently on as this would
show a signal distortion.
— Begin recording by pressing the pause button # 17 to release it.
Tape copy
The unit enables you to copy tape at normal or high speed.
—
Press button 20:
to release it: copy at normal speed
to lock it in: copy at high speed
— Select the type of tape used (cassette recorder 2).
— |nsert the cassette to be copied in cassette deck 1.
—
|nsert the recording cassette in cassette deck 2.
— Select the Dolby B-C NR noise reduction circuit using buttons 22
and 24.
— Press the synchronization button 19 to lock it in.
—
Press the record button 6 13 on cassette recorder 2 the record 29
and tape copy 28 indicators light up.
—
Press the playback button $ 2, tape copy starts.
N.B.: During tape copy
— The recording level is adjusted automatically; it is independent of
controls 21 and 23.
— You can stop tape copy by pressing button W A 6; the tape stops
advancing on cassette recorders 1 and 2; to restart copy, press the
record button » 2 again.
Headphone jack
It is possible to listen to recording or playback in progress on head-
phones.
The headphones used must have an impedance of 8 to 2000 Q and a
lead with a 6.35 mm diameter plug.
— Connect the headphones to input 9 "Phones".
Keeping your recordings
Any new recording automatically erases the previous one. If you wish
to keep one or both sides of a cassette, remove:
— Tab. 1 for side 1
— Tab. 2 for side 2 | see fig. 1, page 27.
Once this operation has been performed, the record button @ 13 will
be locked. If at a later date you wish to record a cassette which has had
its protective tabs removed, just plug both the small apertures with
adhesive tape.

Maintenance
To preserve all the playback qualities of your tape-recorder, you should
at regular intervals clean the magnetic heads and drive mechanism
(pinch roller and capstan).
