Age and fitness seriously affect a worker's
ability to withstand falls.
LIMITATION ON USE
It is impossible to imagine and identify all
the ways this equipment can be misused. It
must be used only for the specific purpose
it was designed for; it must not be used in
any alternative purpose. Only the loading
in the "Correct" illustration is allowed.
Environmental conditions such as snow
or ice may effect the performance of
the pulley.
INTENDED USE
PPE is designed to protect against falls
from height. The pulley must always
be used with the two plates closed and
secured using a suitable connector. Con-
necting to only one sideplate is absolutely
forbidden. Care should be taken not to
load the pulley across its minor axis or
against its axles across a structure.
Pulleys with aluminum wheels should
not be used with steel wire cables due to
increased wear.
Prusik cordage must always have an
experienced person tending them. Never
allow a jammed prusik cordage to be
pulled in between the sideplates. This can
lead to bending or breaking of the pulley
and allow the rope to fall out.
Do not allow an object in between the
sideplates and never rig your system so
that the pulley is forced against something
that could break the sideplates or your
connector.
Pulley can lever against a connector and
break it, opening the connector and allow-
ing the pulley to fall out. Protect against
this condition.
Rope traveling through a pulley can pull
in hair, fingers, clothing, etc. causing injury
and jamming the pulley. Protect against
this condition.
