- Loosen locknut
- Adjust the spring's preload by turning nut
Spring pre-tensing
- Turn clockwise to reduce spring preload.

- Turn anticlockwise to increase spring preload.

Adjust with the tools provided.
- Maintain adjustment nut

Determine the R2 no-load sag value of the shock
absorber (& p. 88).
- The pilot must be wearing all equipment. With
someone else to help to keep the motorcycle
balanced, the pilot assumes the driving position
(feet on footrests) and makes the shock absorber
sag several times to find the balance position.
- Measure the distance between the rear-wheel
axle and the mudguard.
- Write down this measurement as value R3.
The shock absorber's riding sag is the difference
between value R2 and R3.
R2 – R3 = Riding sag.
Shock absorber riding sag
- If the riding sag does not match the number
above, please replace the spring (& p. 90).
