GENERAL INSTRUCTION
Before starting work on systems with flammable refrigerants, safety checks are required to
minimize the risk of ignition. In the case of repairs to the refrigeration system, the following
precautions must be observed before workis carried out on the system.
The work shall be carried out in accordance with a controlled procedure in order to minimise
the risk of the existence of flammable gases or vapours during the execution of the work.
All maintenance staff andother persons working on site must be informed of the nature of the
work carried out. Work in the tightest of spaces should be avoided. The area around the work
area must be separated. Make sure that the conditions within the areaare ensured by the
control of flammable material.
The area must be checked before and during work with an appropriate refrigerant detector
to ensure that the technician is aware of potentially flammableatmospheres. Make sure that
the leak detector used is suitable for use with flammable refrigerants, i.e. Non-sparking,
sufficiently sealed or intrinsically safe.
If hot work is to be carried out on the refrigeration system or theassociated parts, suitable fire
extinguishing equipment must be available. Place a dry powder or CO 2 fire extinguisher next
to the loading area.
No person carrying out work in relation to a refrigeration systemexposing pipelines containing
or having contained flammable refrigerant shall use ignition sources in such a way as to
cause a fire or explosion. All possible sources of ignition, including smoking Zigarescue, should
be sufficiently far from the installation, repair, disassembly and disposal site so that potentially
flammable refrigerant can enter the surrounding room. Before starting the work, the area
around the device must be coveredto ensure that there areno flammable hazards or ignition
hazards. The signs "No smoking" must be displayed.
