Remaining Coffee Beans
Remove the coffee beans from the appliance if they are older than one
week. They maybe have lost their aroma and will reduce the flavour of
your coffee.
NOTE:
Store coffee beans in a sealed, air-tight container in the refrigerator to
ensure that the coffee will keep its typical flavour.

Initial Operation

Time Setting

The appliance operates in 24 h-mode. After connecting the appliance the
power supply, the time will flash in the display.
1. Press the HOUR button to set the hours.
2. Press the MIN button to set the minutes.
NOTE:
If you hold down the HOUR or MIN button, a fast-forward will start.
3. To exit the setting mode, wait approx. 5 seconds after the last button
has been pressed. Your coffee machine is now ready for operation.
Before Using the Appliance for the First Time
Before making coffee for the first time operate the appliance twice with
clean water only and without paper filter. This removes dust, which may
have collected during transport. Follow the instructions given under the
chapter "Preparation with Coffee Powder". Do not fill in coffee powder!
Operation
Preparing the Coffee Machine
CAUTION:
Do not fill any liquids or coffee powder into the coffee bean container!
1. Close the coffee bean container.
2. Open the lid of the water tank.
3. Fill cold water according to the desired amount of cups of coffee into
the rear water tank. The water level is displayed on the indicator.
NOTE:
• Fill approx. 375 ml of water, if you would like to make 2 cups of
coffee.
• Consider that the ground coffee absorbs water during the brew-
ing process. That is why the quantity of coffee might diverge from
the quantity of water in the water tank.
• Pour in only as much water as you want to brew cups. The
content of the water tank will be emptied completely during each
brewing process, regardless of the settings.
CAUTION:
Do not overfill the tank! Do not fill it above the MAX mark.
4. Now close the lid of the water tank.
5. Open the filter compartment by rotating it to the left.
6. Make sure the filter holder is inserted.
7. IMPORTANT: Turn over the lower fold of the paper filter (size 1 x 4)
and place it in the filter funnel. The paper filter may not protrude over
the edge of the filter holder!
8. Place the filter cover on the filter holder.
9. Close the swivel filter until it will lock in audible.
10. Screw the lid on the pot in a way that the button on the lid is pointing
to the handle.
11. Place the pot with lid onto the storage surface of the appliance.
CAUTION: Drip stop
The appliance has an automatic drip stop. It closes, when the pot is
removed. It prevents the dripping of coffee onto the storage surface,
when there is still water in the filter.

CAUTION: Drip stop
• Ensure that the lid is attached to the coffee pot. It opens the drip
stop.
• If there is still water in the tank, place the pot underneath as soon
as possible. Otherwise the filter might overflow.
• Please also refer to the chapter  "Interruption of the Brewing
Process".
12. If you want to make your coffee with coffee powder, read the chapter
 "Preparation with Coffee Powder".
Preparation with Coffee Beans
Please follow the instructions under points  "Preparing the Coffee
Machine".
13. Open the coffee bean container.
14. Use the regulator (11) to adjust the coarseness setting.
15. Fill the desired amount of coffee beans into the grinder. The maximum
filling capacity of 200 g may not be exceeded.
16. Close the coffee bean container.
17. Use the button CUPS to select the number of cups of coffee you want
to brew.
18. You also have influence on the strength of the coffee. Use the
button to determine, whether more or less coffee will be
ground. Press the button repeatedly until the desired setting is shown
in the display:
Mild coffee
Moderate coffee (approx. 5 - 6 g more ground coffee)
Strong coffee (once again approx. 5 - 6 g more ground coffee)
19. Start the coffee preparation by pressing the ON button. The indicator
light next to the button lights up. The coffee beans are ground. After-
wards the brewing operation starts automatically.
Preparation with Coffee Powder
Please follow the instructions under points  "Preparing the Coffee
Machine". Before putting the filter cover onto the filter holder, fill the paper
filter with ground coffee.
NOTE:
Do not put too much coffee powder into the filter to avoid spillage.
13. Switch the grinder off. To do this, press the GRIND OFF button. The
indicator light next to the button lights up.
14. Start the coffee preparation by pressing the ON button. The indicator
light next to the button lights up.
Interruption of the Brewing Process
CAUTION:
If you remove the pot during the brewing operation, the process will not
be stopped. Put the pot back to the storage surface within 20 seconds,
as the coffee may overflow the edge of the filter holder.
• If you would like to shortly remove the pot during the brewing opera-
tion, press the OFF button.
• If you wish to continue the brewing operation, put the pot back onto
the storage surface and press the GRIND OFF button. Afterwards you
may restart by using the ON button.
The Coffee is Ready
• 3 signal tones will sound when the brewing operation is completed.
The indicator lights and the display light go out. The appliance is in
standby mode.
• When no more coffee is flowing through the filter you can remove the
pot.
• Press the button at the lid to serve coffee.
• If you would like to open the lid, turn it counterclockwise.
