The Tele Gyro is a new remote controlled Ikarus gyro for RC models.
Progressive microprocessor technology together with an integrated
automatic stick authority system facilitate outstanding gyro action.
Gyro systems automatically compensate external forces (wind gusts) as
well as torque fluctuations acting on the model and take care of keeping the
momentary airplane flight position as far as possible unchanged. The gyros
are simply linked between the servo and the receiver output and they are
furthermore mechanically aligned to the required correction axis.
With gyros from IKARUS
model flying advances to a new dimension.

WIRING SCHEMATIC
The gyro is hooked up between servo and receiver. Plug the receiver
connector of the TELE GYRO into one of the receiver output sockets.
Connect the servo to output 1 of the TELE GYRO.

Servo Reverse Jumper
With the aid of the reverse jumper the gyro effect can be reversed, with each
switching-on action the microprocessor inquires the presence of a jumper.
Alternatively, the gyro operation can also be reversed by turning the gyro
housing by 180 degrees.
INSTALLATION
Choose a position of the TELE GYRO away of vibration and heat. In order to
inhibit vibrations stick the gyro with a relatively thick double sided foam tape
to a smooth surface.Cables to motor, speed controller and battery should be
routed as far away as possible from the TELE GYRO. The gyro compensates
angular movements about its correction axis by means of corresponding
counter steering and must therefore be mechanically installed in the correct
position referring to the axis about which the compensation takes place. In
order to achieve this effect the TELE GYRO must be installed with its
correction axis parallel to the demanded correction axis of the model (see
figures, here always the top view of the axis of rotation is shown).
Alignment of the gyro axis in a HELICOPTER
In a helicopter the gyro usually controlls the tail rotor. Accordingly the tail
stands still even in strong side winds.

Vertical axis/tail control
Attention: Before first flight attempts check the direction of the gyro effect. In
case of a reversed direction of gyro effect your model may crash due to
uncontrollable pi-rouettes. If you rotate the helicopter clockwise about its vertical
axis the gyro must produce a tail rotor deflection which on the other hand would
produce an anti-clockwise rotation of the model and vice versa.
Alignment of the gyro axis in a wing airplane
In this case the gyro is utilized to control the elevator or rudder. For beginners the
gyro is helpful in controlling the nose landing gear. The model in side wind
behaves similarly to no wind conditions.
Lateral axis/elevator
Alignment of the gyro axis in cars/boats
TELE GYRO safely holds your model "on track". Drifting is much reduced. Un-
necessary spin outs are avoided. Control during fast and straight runs improves
thanks to TELE GYRO.
Vertical axis/steering control
Operating instructions
Switch on the transmitter first and subsequently the power supply of the receiver.
After switching-on the TELE GYRO executes an automatic temperature self
calibration. During this period it is very important not to move the gyro. At the end
of this period (approx. 3 sec.) the LED lights up permanently and the connected
servo executes a short twitch. The gyro is ready for operation.
Remote adjustment
If you want to take advantage of the remote controlled adjustment, plug the
connector with the marking "sensitivity" into one of the receiver output sockets. If
you don´ t have a free channel left for remote adjustment control just leave the
connector open. In that case the gyro will always work at the basic sensitivity
which has been adjusted by potentiometer (range between 30% and 100% of
gyro sensitivity). If your gyro works in the remote adjustment mode, you must not
forget that the sensitivity range will also be influenced by servo travel limit
adjustments of your transmitter on the given gyro channel. If you want a regular
operational behaviour the full pulse length range of 1.1 till 1.9 milliseconds must
be available, that corresponds on a JR radio to a symmetrical servo travel of
100/100%, otherways you will not be able to achieve full remote controlled
sensitivity adjustments of whole 100% or 0%.
Into PCM-receivers the gyro must be plugged according to the recommondation
of the receiver's manufacturer. For example, plug the gyro's connector "rudder
channel" into receiver channel 2, and plug the gyro's sensitivity connector into
receiver channel 5 or 7. If the gyro's LED starts flashing after connecting to a
PCM receiver the channel wiring is wrong and has to be changed. As long as the
LED is flashing, only poor gyro effect is achieved.
Warranty
This quality product has been thoroughly checked before delivery. Nevertheless, in case of complaints your warranty claims will be handled in accordance with our current General
Sales Conditions. If equipment returned for warranty repair shows full functionality during the entry inspection, handling charge will be DM40,-. According to our experience the product
works well with all current R/C systems. On the other hand we cannot grant functionality with a specific R/C system due to the fact that control pulse conditions of receivers are not liable
to standardization. We must as well reject any responsibility for consequential damage arisen from the use of our products since we are not able to supervise their appropriate
application.
Safety directions
The CE-label is no allowance for negligent handling of the equipment. Avoid dangerous areas of motors, propellers, gears and rotor blades. Always consider electric systems as
potentially dangerous. Always remove the battery if you intend to work on the system. Avoid direct and condensed humidity. The product is not protected against reversal of polarity.
Reversing polarity or cables can entail irreparable damages. Plugs and sockets must always fit perfectly. Improvisations can give rise to damages. Care about the power consumption of
the power supply, especially with regard to the gyro. A higher power consumption than assigned for can damage the power supply and other equipment connected to it. Never disconnect
an electrical appliance from the battery as long as it is operating.
Operating directions
The transmitter must always be switched on first and subsequently the receiver. Make sre that the throttle stick is in the low throttle position. In any case verify that you are exclusive user
of the selected frequency and nobody else is using it. Pay attention to the CE-labels of other components. Provide motors with at least 2 noise suppressing ceramic capacitors 10 - 100
nF/63 - 100 V and optional with further noise suppressing means (filters, chokes). Route the antenna at least 1" away of motor, battery, speed controller and their cables. Install the
receiver as far away as possible of motor, battery and speed controller. Keep cables as short as possible. Motor and battery cables should be twisted. For the purpose of storing your
model remove the batteries and store it at a dry place with normal air humidity. Should the system act erratically, disconnect the flight battery from the system and reconnect it again after
a waiting period of 5 - 10 s.
