ASSEMBLY
This kit is compatible with a wide range of BMW vehicles. For step-by-step instructions on
how to correctly remove your vehicle's original speakers, please contact your BMW service
workshop. The following instructions for the BMW F30 model are intended as an example
for all models. For the EM-BMWF1, a tweeter mount is required in the mirror triangle. You can
obtain this component from your BMW service workshop if it is not already in your vehicle.
Use a plastic wedge to carefully pry out the trim strip on the door handle. Start at the
lower end and work your way forward piece by piece. This trim strip has a hook at the
rear end in the shape of an „L". Therefore, first pull the trim strip towards you, until all the
clips are released and then pull it forwards to be able to remove the trim strip completely.
Now loosen the two screws that are located at the red arrows in the picture.
In the last step, carefully remove the door panel off the door with a wide plastic wedge.
It is recommended to start at the bottom and work your way up carefully. Also pull the door
panel in the window area away from the window towards you to release the metal clips.
Once all the plugs and clips have been released, slide the trim upwards over the door pin.
If you want to remove the trim completely, remove the Bowden cable from the door opener
and unlock the connector of the window regulator console.
The original speaker is fixed with three Torx screws. Replace it now with the EMPHASER
speaker.
EM-BMWF1 ONLY
Midrange speaker mounting
Connect the original plug to the supplied EMPHASER crossover to the input cable „Input".
Connect the cable marked „Woofer" to one of the two free plugs on the EMPHASER speaker.
The crossover has the option of bypassing the integrated high-pass filter if you prefer to
drive the EM-BMWF1 via an amplifier with an active filter or a DSP. To do this, simply connect
the red and black cable at the input of the crossover. The frequency of the high-pass filter
should be set to approx. 300 Hz.
