Adjustment
1. Pause timing adjustment
When
the pinch-roller is released from the capstan and
drive pulley is released from the reel at different instants,
a knocking sound
is generated at the instant when the
pause button is locked.
The timing can be finely adjusted by the tab used for
Operating the pinch-roller arm as shown in Fig. 20.
Method of adjustment
Take out the chassis from the case and set it to PLAY
without
inserting
the cassette tape. Slowly
press the
pause button with the right hand while making sure the
pinch-roller
is rotating
with the left hand
by lightly
touching the pinch-roller. Check that the take-up pulley
is released
from
the reel and that at the same
pulley
when
the
reel
stops,
the
pinch-roller
also
stops.
When
the pinch-roller stops before
or after than the
reel, adjust it while bending the tab used for operating
the
pinch-roller
arm
as shown
in Fig. 20.
Use
radio
pincers or the like, carefully watching the operation.
Note:
Touch the pinch-roller lightly.
When the pinch-roller stops after the reel.
Bend the tab used for operating the pinch-roller arm in
the direction of "slow".
When the pinch-roller stops after the reel.
Bend the tab used for operating the pinch-roller arm in
the direction of "'fast''.
Finally,
run
through
the cassette
tape and press the
pause button, and make sure that the knocking sound is
not generated.

2. Timing adjustment for cue and review
When the cue or review operation is carried out during
playback, the pinch-roller is released from the capstan,
the take- up pulley from the head, and the head from
the tape
when
the
rewind
or fast-forward
button
is
pressed right in. Among these, the timing of the take-up
pulley releasing the reel can be adjusted.
Method of adjustment
Take out the chassis from the cases; set the unit to PLAY
without
inserting the cassette
tape. Lightly touch the
pinch-roller with the left hand and press the fast forward
or rewind
button
gradually with the right hand while
checking that the pinch-roller is rotating.
Check that the take-up reel stops instantaneously when
the pinch-roller is released from the capstan and it stops.
When
the
reel stops
before
or after the pinch-roller,
remove the fly-wheel and adjust it by bending the tab of
the RC lever used for the driving the arm little by little,
carefully watching the operation.
Note:
Check
the
above
approx.
at the
instant
(just
before the reel stops and the FR idler is pressed
against
the reel) when
the playback
condition
changes
to the cueing
or reviewing
condition
while pressing the fast-forward or rewind button.
When the reel stops before the pinch-roller
Bend the tab which operates the take-up pulley on the
RC lever as shown in Fig. 21 in the '"FAST"' direction.
When the reel stops after the pinch-roller
Bend the tab which operates the take-up pulley on the
RC lever as shown in Fig. 21 in the SLOW"
direction.
Finally, check that there is no slackness
or no great
tention in the tape when the cassette tape is run through
during the cueing or reviewing operation.
