2. INTRODUCTION
2.1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Weldkar MMA 4065 DC is an MMA arc welder that has the
latest pulse width modulation (PWM) technology and the
isolated port bipolar transistor (IGBT) power module. It can
change the operating frequency to the middle frequency to
replace the traditional hulking frequency transformer for the
cabinet medium frequency transformer.
The machine is characterized by its portability, small size, light
weight and low energy consumption. The Weldkar MMA 4065 DC
has excellent performance:
• The constant current output makes the arc more stable;
• Fast dynamic response speed reduces the arc length
effect fluctuation to the current;
• Accurate stepless current adjustment and pre-setting
function.
There are also some automatic protection functions for
undervoltage, overcurrent and overheating. If problems occur,
the alarm light on the front panel turns on and cuts off the
output current. The machine can protect itself and make its
service life as long as possible. Reliability and usability have been
greatly improved with this machine.
For the Weldkar MMA 4065 DC, the welding current, arc force
and hot-start can be adjusted with the adjustment knob, which
can satisfy different types of welding processes. The machine can
also achieve high quality welding, especially for the use of base
electrodes, acid electrodes and cellulose electrodes. When using
cellulose electrodes it is also possible to weld downwards for
butt joints in all positions.
The Weldkar MMA 4065 DC can be used in the chemical industry,
mechanical industry, shipbuilding, architecture and plant
engineering.
MMA = Manual Metal Arc welding;
PWM = Pulse Width Modulation;
IGBT = Insulated Gate Bipolar Transisto
The instructions below provide detailed information for the
correct and safe use of the machine and instructions for
obtaining the highest efficiency and quality of your power source.
THE MACHINE MUST NOT BE USED TO DEFROST PIPES.

2.3 OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
- Altitude above sea level is less than 1000m.
- Operating temperature : -100C~+400C.
- The relative humidity is below 90% (+20C).
- Preferably place the machine a few corners above the floor
level. The angle should not exceed 15 degrees.
- Protect the machine from heavy rain or in hot conditions from
direct sunlight.
- The content of dust, acid, corrosive gas in the ambient air
must not exceed the normal standard.
- Ensure adequate ventilation during welding. At least 30 cm
clearance between the machine and the wall is required.
2.4 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
- Please read chapter 1 carefully before using this equipment.
- Connect the ground wire directly to the machine and refer to
chapter 3.5.
- The input power must be AC three phase, 50Hz, 380V. It is
forbidden to work with this machine without complying with
these requirements.
- If the mains switch is closed, the open circuit voltage can be
exported. Do not touch the output electrode with any part of
your body. Do not look at the arc with unprotected eyes. There
should be no unprotected people around when using this
machine.
- Ensure proper ventilation of the machine to improve its
efficiency.
- Turn off the engine when the operation is complete to save
energy.
- If the power switch is turned off due to a malfunction, do not
restart the machine until the problem has been solved.
2.5 THERMAL PROTECTION
This Inverter is protected by a thermostat. When the
thermostat comes into operation, the machine no longer
supplies power, but the fan continues to work. The yellow LED
(5) lights up to indicate that the thermostat has been activated.
Do not switch off the welding machine until the LED light has
gone out.
2.6 MOTOR-DRIVEN GENERATORS
These must have a capacity of 6 KVA or more and must not
provide a voltage higher than 265 V.
2.7 SHORT-CIRCUIT PROTECTION (NON-STICK)
If a short circuit lasts longer than two seconds during welding
with coated electrodes, the current is reduced to harmless
levels.
