Description
TX230 is a radio transmitter with 2 inputs for the connection of detectors that need power
supply. It is available in two versions (TX230/433 and TX230/868).
The inputs can be used jointly (two detectors on one channel) or independently (one detector
per channel).
The transmitter controls the following devices:
» reed contacts
» inertial detectors
» rope (pulse count) contacts.
Every input can be programmed with a different device and filter by a series of dip-switch.
TX230 supplies +13.8V. Power supply is provided by mains power 230V AC through a fuse-
protected transformer.
A rechargeable 12V-2.1Ah battery supplies the necessary power in case of voltage drops.
If more than 500mA current is absorbed on the terminal +13.8V, the fuse F1 is burnt.
Installation
» The transmitter must be mounted in a protected but accessible place for the periodic
replacement of the battery.
» The connection cable of the detector must not be longer than 5m and never be layed
together with the power conducts.
» Avoid mounting above aluminum or iron girders (reduce transmission range) or inside metal
boxes.
Connection of power supply
TX230 must be connected to mains power 230V AC. The green LED DL3 (mains) is lit to signal
the presence of mains power. If mains is present, the battery is charging.
Power failure
In case of power failure (LED DL3 off), power supply is guaranteed by the battery. If the battery
is nearly discharged (voltage approx. 11V), the transmitter signals low battery. If the battery is
completely discharged (voltage <9V) and mains power is still missing, the battery is automatically
disconnected and the transmitter is switched off.
Attention
The transmitter is not automatically activated if powered by battery only. To enable functioning
with battery only, insert the jumper JP6 for some seconds, then remove it.
Functions
» Contact type (alarm and tamper input)
It is possible to use only NC contacts (normally closed, i.e. contact open = alarm).
» Tamper (tamper input and switch)
The tamper contacts (input and switch) are connected in series. Opening of one of them is
enough to release the alarm, however, both contacts must be closed to stop it. If the jumper
JP4 is connected, the tamper switch is excluded, whereas the tamper input is exlcuded if
the jumper JP3 is connected.
If functioning with 2 independent channels has been selected, the tamper alarm is signaled
by both channels.
It is possible to connect only normally closed (NC) contacts to the tamper input.
In case of alarm, both opening and closing of the contact are signaled.
» Battery charge control (voltage control)
Battery charge is measured every 10s. Low battery is signaled if voltage has been found
below the limit for more than 30s. Signaling for battery ok is transmitted if voltage has been
found above the minimum for more than one minute.
No matter if functioning with single or double channel has been selected, low battery
signaling is transmitted by both channels.
» Supervision (functioning test)
TX230 periodically (approx. every 40 minutes) sends a test signal to the control panel to
signal smooth functioning.
Functioning mode
Single channel (jumper JP1 inserted)
The inputs are analyzed and filtered individually, however, they use a single transmission
channel as if they were connected in series (detection mode OR).
As soon as one of the inputs detects an anomaly, the alarm is released.
During transmission, a code identifying the device type (contact, inertial or pulse count - see
table 1) and the serial number of the detector in alarm are transmitted. In case of simultaneous
alarms on both channels, the two alarm transmissions are carried out by the same channel. This
functioning mode permits doubling of the number of radio detectors connected to the control
panel. In fact, connecting two detectors to TX230, the radio receiver recognizes a single
channel.
Double channel (jumper JP1 removed)
The inputs are analyzed and filtered singularly and they use two seperate transmission
channels, each with a proper serial number and ID code like two different detectors.
