Professional 3400 running Network Software Suite
Before you begin:
This document describes how to set up your Rimage Professional 3400 system to run
Rimage Network Software Suite version 8.3 and above.

 Note:Network Software Suite replaces the Rimage Standalone Software that
shipped with your Professional 3400 system.
The instructions in this document are intended for people who are familiar with
hardware setup, software installation, and Windows operating systems. If you do not
understand the procedures in this document, ask your computer technician for help.
Documents referenced in this procedure are found on the Rimage Professional
3400/5400N User Guide disc included with your system and are also available online
at www.rimage.com/support.From the Support menu select: ProfessionalSeries>
Professional3400 >UserManuals tab.

Important!
• Read all setup instructions thoroughly before you begin.
• Save all packing boxes and packing materials for your Rimage system.

 Notes:
• The 3400 is a non-embedded autoloader and integrated Everest 400 printer
that requires an external PC to be used as the control center. The external
PC does not ship with the 3400. Refer to the Rimage Professional 3400 and
5400N Specifications document at www.rimage.com/support
PC requirements.
• Your product may not look exactly like the product pictured.
• The term "autoloader" is used throughout this document to refer to the
Rimage Professional 3400. The term "printer" refers to the integrated
Everest 400 printer. The term "system" refers to both the Professional 3400
autoloader and the Everest 400 printer.
• This product is also designed for an IT power distribution system with phase-
to-phase voltage 230V.
• Unless otherwise indicated, all Windows navigation statements are Microsoft
Windows XP paths. Other operating systems' navigation paths may differ
slightly.

Set up the autoloader
- 
Important! Do not power on the system until instructed to do so.
a. Remove the tapeand packing
foam from the top and side of the
autoloader.

e. Connect the cables and cords.
i. Connect the powercordfrom the back of
the autoloader to a power outlet.

Important! The outlet must be an
earth-grounded outlet.
ii. Connect the USBcable from the back of
the autoloader to the external control
center (PC).

b. Open the frontdoor.
c. Remove the plasticpackingbraces from
the lift arm and printer tray.

 Note: You may need to bend the
plastic brace in the printer tray to
remove it.
d. Close the front door.

Uninstall the Rimage Standalone Software
- 
Important! If you have the Rimage Standalone Software installed on your
PC, you must uninstall it before you install the Network Software Suite.
Use the procedure below to uninstall the Rimage Standalone Software. If
you do not have Rimage Standalone Software or Network Software Suite
installed on your PC, proceed to step 4.
a. In Windows select: Start > ControlPanel. The Control Panel window
opens.
b. Select AddorRemove Programs. The Add or Remove Programs window
opens.
c. Select RimageStandaloneSoftwarefrom the Currently installed
programs list.
d. Select Remove.

 Note:A Rimage Standalone Software message displays asking if you
want to completely remove the selected application and all of its
features. Select Yes. The Rimage Standalone Software is uninstalled
from your PC.
e. When the Uninstall Complete dialog displays, select Yes,Iwanttorestart
mycomputernow.

 Note:Make sure to remove any discs from the PC disc drive before
restarting the PC.
f. Select Finish. The PC restarts.
g. When the PC has restarted, delete the following folders:
- 
Important!Before you delete these folders, make sure that they do
not contain any personal files.
• C:\Rimage
• C:\Program Files\Rimage

Install Network Software Suite
- 
Important!You must have administrative privileges to install the
software on the external PC.
a. Place the NetworkSoftwareSuitedisc in the disc drive of the
external PC.


Note: If the software installation does not start automatically,
select Run from the Windows Start menu and browse to the
setup.exe file on the software disc.
b. Follow the onscreenprompts to complete the software installation.

Power on the system
a. Press the powerswitchon the back of the
PowerSwitch
autoloader. The autoloader powers on.
b. Make sure the externalPC is powered on.

 Note: After the system powers on, the system begins
the initialization process. Initialization may take up
to 5 minutes.
c. When the control panel displays "Printer Ribbon Absent"
continue to step 6.
