1 Intended use
The product is intended for use as decoration. The product is powered by rechargeable batteries that re-
charge via the integrated solar panel during the daylight hours. The light turns on automatically at night-
fall.
The product is not suitable for domestic lighting.
Important:
The product has an IP44 ingress protection rating. It is splash proof and suitable for outdoor use. Do
not submerge in water or use in areas where water accumulates.
If you use the product for purposes other than those described, the product may be damaged.
Improper use can result in short circuits, fires, or other hazards.
The product complies with the statutory national and European requirements.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify the product.
Read the operating instructions carefully and store them in a safe place. Make this product available to
third parties only together with the operating instructions.

5 Safety instructions

5.1 General
■
The product is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
■
Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous playing mater-
ial for children.
■
If you have questions which remain unanswered by this information product, contact our technical
support service or other technical personnel.
■
Maintenance, modifications and repairs must only be completed by a technician or an authorised re-
pair centre.
5.2 Handling
■
Handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage the product.
5.3 Operating environment
■
Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
■
Protect the appliance from extreme temperatures, strong jolts, flammable gases, steam and solvents.
5.4 Operation
■
Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the product.
■
If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it from any
accidental use. DO NOT attempt to repair the product yourself. Safe operation can no longer be guar-
anteed if the product:
– is visibly damaged,
– is no longer working properly,
– has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
– has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
5.5 Rechargeable battery
■
Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the rechargeable battery.
■
The rechargeable battery should be removed from the device if it is not used for a long period of time
to avoid damage through leaking. Leaking or damaged rechargeable batteries might cause acid burns
when in contact with skin, therefore use suitable protective gloves to handle corrupted rechargeable
batteries.
■
Rechargeable batteries must be kept out of reach of children. Do not leave rechargeable batteries ly-
ing around, as there is risk, that children or pets swallow them.
■
Rechargeable batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into fire. Never recharge
non-rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of explosion!

6 Installation
6.1 Finding a location
Find a location that exposes the solar module to full sunlight to allow the battery to recharge during the
day.
Consider the following:
■
The solar panel should be exposed to maximum sunlight. Do not set up the product in the shade or
under any cover.
■
Avoid the direct proximity of other light sources such as yard or streetlights, otherwise the product will
not switch on automatically at nightfall.
■
Avoid locations that are likely to be flooded.
■
The location should be level and sufficiently firm (example: soil). Stony subsurfaces damage the
ground spike.
6.2 Securing in the ground
After selecting a suitable location, secure the product in the ground.

2. Connect the ground spike to the standpipe.

7 Operation
7.1 Using the light
7.1.1 Before using for the first time
Before using the product for the first time or after prolonged periods of low sunlight, fully charge the re-
chargeable batteries in sunlight.
1. During daylight, expose the solar panel to sunlight for as long as possible.
2. Before it gets dark, deactivate the product (switch off) to prevent it from switching on automatically.
3. Charge again on the second day.
Tip:
If there is insufficient sunlight during the day, recharge the rechargeable batteries using a suitable bat-
tery charger.
7.1.2 Activating and deactivating the light
After activating, the light will switch on when night falls.

Before using for the first time
To control the light:
1. (If an insulation strip protrudes from the battery compartment) pull it out to establish the power supply.
2. At the bottom of the product, press the ON/OFF button to switch the power ON.

During darkness, the light is on. (Recommended) carry out a performance test in a dark room.

3. To deactivate product, press the ON/OFF button to switch the powerOFF.
Note:
When the product is activated, the rechargeable battery is charged during daylight.

7.1.3 Notes on battery health
To charge the rechargeable battery, it is important that the solar panel is exposed to sunlight during the
day.
Consider the following:
■
Keep the solar panel clean. Dust and dirt covering the solar panel reduce charging efficiency.
■
Avoid complete discharge. During extended periods without sufficient sunlight, the rechargeable
battery can completely discharge and get damaged. To prevent this, switch the product off.
■
Cold temperatures adversely affect the battery life. During cold weather, switch the product off
and store it in a dry and warm location.
7.2 Lighting modes
■
Press the MODE button to toggle through lighting modes.
■
The built in memory chip will save the last mode that was set.
■
The 11 lighting modes are as follows:
– Automatically loop playback
– Warm white steady on
– Cool colour steady on
– Warm + White steady on 1
– Warm + White steady on 2
– Slow in wave
– Warm and cool colour change
– Warm flash
– Cool flash
– Warm & cool flash
– Twinkle
