General Information

Control valves are suited to regulate fluids, gaseous mediums and steam. The decision which valve should be used depends on
the operating data and application of the control valve.
The valves differ through: type, nominal bore, nominal pressure and the material of body and gaskets and the shape of flanges.
For different control purposes, several different types of plugs and inner designs are also used.
Attention!
Control valves shall only be used for the appropriate design- and operation data
The body material and nominal pressure of the valve is stamped on the valve body. This data has to fit the operation data and
has to be suitable for the medium.
Every valve has a unique serial number, which is written on the name plate of the valve in the box "W. Nr.". For ordering spare
parts, always give the serial number of the valve. (See Appendix Figure 1)
Several tests (pressure testing, leakage testing) are done in the factory for every valve. Also the set up of the valve is done in the
factory, therefore a calibration or set up of the valve on site is not necessary.
Caution!
Before beginning to install or operate the valve please read "hazard warnings...". 0000-7004
Only trained and qualified specialist staff may install and commission valves.
Outside
If the actuator is to be installed outside, suitable protection against sun, rain, ice and dust is required.

Installation and connection

Fitting instructions

Before installing the valve, the following items should be considered.
Installation space:
The installation point must allow sufficient space to ensure correct maintenance and enough space to remove the actuator
cover. Motor valves installed outdoors should have suitable weather protection such as a sun and rain cover.
Before installation:
the guard caps must be removed from the flanges.
Cleaning of pipes:
The piping must be rinsed to clear out any dirt particles, welding beads, rust etc. before installing the control valve. This
prevents damaging the valve trim. A strainer should be fitted in front of the control valve.
Flow direction:
For two-way valves the arrow on the valve body shows flow direction through valve.
For mixing valves outlet is shown with "AB" on the valve body.
For diverting valves, inlet is shown with "AB" on the valve body.

Installation position:

Actuator pointing up vertically or horizontally is suitable. If the valve is installed vertically, the pillars should be over each
other to support the weight of actuator.
Tension on valve body:
Precautions to prevent any stress and tension on the valve body have to be taken.
Piping arrangement:
For correct operation of the valve the inlet distance should be > 5x DN, straight, linear and undisturbed. After valve outlet
the distance should be > 10x DN straight, linear and undisturbed.
For gases of low density the inlet and outlet distance must be double the length given above.
Protection against heat:
To protect the actuator against heat, the piping and valve body should be insulated. This has to be done before start up.
