If the device is transported from a cold to a warm environment, condensation may cause a device
fault. Wait for the device temperature to adjust to the room temperature before recommissioning the
device.
Any claims made due to unintended use are excluded.
2.2 Responsibility of the operating entity
The operating entity is responsible for the selection of the thermometer or multi-part protective pipe,
as well as for their material selection to ensure a safe function in the plant or machine. In the course
of consulting/quoting, SICK can only make recommendations based on our experience in similar
applications.
Observe the safety notes in these operating instructions as well as the safety, accident prevention
and environmental protection regulations applicable to the area of application of the device.
The operating entity is responsible for keeping the type label legible.

2.3 Personnel qualification

WARNING!
Risk of injury due to insufficient training!
Improper handling may result in considerable personal injury and material damage.
The activities described in these operating instructions may only be performed by
qualified personnel with the qualifications described below.
Keep unqualified personnel away from hazardous areas.
Technical personnel
Due to their specialist training, knowledge of measuring and control technology, and experience, as
well as their knowledge of country-specific regulations and the relevant standards and provisions,
the technical personnel are able to perform the work described and detect any potential dangers
independently.
Special application conditions require other knowledge, e.g. of aggressive media.

2.4 Special hazards

WARNING!
In the case of hazardous media such as oxygen, acetylene, flammable or toxic substan-
ces, as well as refrigeration systems, compressors, etc., the relevant regulations must be
observed in addition to all the general rules.
WARNING!
Avoid mechanical stress on the electrical connections and the housing. The maximum
temperatures of +150 °C or +250 °C (depending on configuration) must not be excee-
ded. All connections may only be opened when depressurized and cooled down.
