Operating instructions
Product description/Structure
The TCT type resistance thermometers consist of a protective pipe with a fixed process connection
and are screwed directly into the process. They are designed to be shock and vibration resistant and
all electrical components are protected against splash water. The electrical contact is made by means
of M12x1 round connectors.
Inspect the device for any damage that may have occurred during transport.
If there is obvious damage, notify the transport company and SICK immediately.
We have compiled the following installation and operating instructions with care.

2. Safety
WARNING!
Before mounting, commissioning and operation, make sure that the correct thermometer
has been selected with regard to measuring range, type and specific measuring condi-
tions.
Failure to do so may result in serious bodily injury and/or property damage.
More important safety notes can be found in the individual sections of these operating
instructions.
2.1 Intended use
The type TCT resistance thermometers are used as universal thermometers for measuring temperatu-
res from –50 ... +150 °C [–58 ... +302 °F] (without neck pipe) and –50 ... +250 °C [–58 ... +482 °F]
(with neck pipe) in liquid and gaseous media.
They can be used for pressures up to 140 bar [2,030 psi] with sensor diameter 3 mm [0.12 in] and
up to 270 bar [3,916 psi] with sensor diameter 6 mm [0.24 in], depending on the device version.
These resistance thermometers are used for temperature measurement in industrial applications.
The device is designed and manufactured exclusively for the intended purpose of use described here
and may only be used in accordance with this purpose.
The technical specifications in these operating instructions must be observed. Improper handling or
operation of the device outside the technical specifications requires immediate decommissioning.
