11 Connection

Important:
– The electrical connection must only be carried out by a specialist.
– The monitor is connected via the cigarette lighter socket. In some vehicles, cigarette lighter sockets remain
energised when the ignition is switched off. If this is the case with your vehicle, unplug the monitor from the
cigarette lighter socket when not in use to prevent discharge of the vehicle battery.
– Always disconnect the negative pole (ground) of the vehicle battery when connecting the cables to prevent
short circuits and resulting damage to the product and the vehicle. Only re-connect the negative pole of the
vehicle battery when the system is fully connected and after you have checked the connection.
– Follow the instructions from the vehicle's manufacturer to ensure that none of the vehicle's saved data (time,
radio stations, etc.) is lost.
– Use only a voltmeter or a diode test lamp to check the voltage of the vehicle system leads, as regular test
lamps consume excessive voltage and may thus damage the vehicle's electronics.
– Adhesive techniques that evolve and the painted metal parts impair the electric conductivity. Therefore, not
every metal part is a suitable earthing point.
– When laying the cables, make sure they are not squeezed or abraded on sharp edges. Use rubber grommets
for the lead-though points.
– Exercise extreme caution when routing the cables in door pillars to avoid damaging safety devices (e.g. side
air bags). The cables may not be laid within the triggering range of the fully expanded air bag.
