Grinding capacity
The grinding capacity at 80 rotations per minute is 50 g of fine and 100 g of coarse flour per minute.
These are ideal values. The grinding capacity depends on the moisture content of the grain and also on the
type of grain.
Oil containing seeds must not be ground.
For
spelt
and
green
spelt, we recommend staying 1-2 points away from the finest setting to prevent the
stones from sticking. This setting is sufficient for finely ground flour.
With oats, a coarser setting should be selected due to the naturally higher fat content. Here, too, you will still
get finely ground flour. This applies to hulled oat grains as well as to naked oats.
Only use grain that has been cleaned and is ready to eat. Impurities (e.g. small stones) can damage the mill.
Tips for use of grain
Grain must be stored in a dry, well ventilated and cool location. Ideally grain is stored in sacks
or in wooden boxes which are not sealed airtight.
Grain is hygroscopic, i.e. water is absorbed a damp atmosphere. If the grain is too wet
when it is ground, this might cause clogging of the millstones.
The "knife test" has proven ideal in order to check whether the grain is dry enough before
it is ground. Dry grain bursts with a distinct cracking sound when trying the crush it on a hard
surface with a knife. Grain which is too wet can be pressed to flakes.
If the grain is too wet, place it for some days in a basket somewhere warm (on the heating for
example) or put it in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 50°C.

Placing into operation and operation
1.
Before using the mill for the first time, please brush it inside with a dry brush or paintbrush.
2.
Clamp the grain mill to a protruding (table) edge with the two table clamps.
3.
The grain mill is set ready for operation and adjusted so that it grinds the finest possible flour when the
pointer is set to „0".
The degree of fineness can be adjusted continuously between „0" and beyond „6".
Turning the knob clockwise: coarser
counter-clockwise: finer
4.
When you have adjusted the desired setting, put the grain into the metal hopper and turn the crank
clockwise.
Readjusting the fineness
If it is not possible to grind fine anymore the degree of fineness can be adjusted again.
Pull off the setting knob with a strong jerk and turn the slotted screw in the hexagon bolt clockwise by max.
30° with a screwdriver. Then push on the knob slightly and turn it to the left until it stops. Now remove the
scale disc from the grinding cone and bring the zero point of the scale in line with the point of the setting
knob. Push on the setting knob completely.

Cleaning and maintenance:

The mill is maintenance-free when used properly. The mill cleans itself by the grinding process.
If the mill is not in constant use, we still recommend cleaning the millstones after use. To do this, remove
COUNTRY
the rotating stone (turn clockwise until the stone can be removed). Now you can clean both stones with
a hard brush or paintbrush (never damp or wet).
If the mill becomes clogged due to excessively moist grinding material, empty the mill. Then grind at
coarse setting about 100 g of wheat or natural rice, which has been dried in the oven at approx. 50°C for
process
10 - 15 min. If there is still no success, clean the millstones as described above.
gradually
If the „0" setting can no longer be achieved after installation, proceed as follows procedure:
-
Turn the adjusting knob to the left as far as it will go.
-
Then pull the adjustment knob off with a strong jerk. Replace the adjusting knob lightly.
-
Lift the scale disc off the grinding cone approx. 5 mm and align the „0" point on the scale with
the point on the adjusting knob.
-
Press the scale disc and adjusting knob firmly onto the grinding cone in this position.
