grinding
The degree of fineness can be continuously regulated between "fine" and "coarse" with the help of the
sliding button situated on the right-hand side of the mill.
You can also adjust the fineness while grinding.
If the motor does not start immediately when milling owing to an under voltage in the mains, the adjustment
lever should be briefly slid to coarse while the mill is running and shortly afterwards again to the desired
more finer setting.
flaking
The wheels for flaking have been adjusted for intermediate
flake finesse. The distance between the rollers can not be
changed.
Tips for use of grain
Grain must be stored in a dry, well ventilated and cool location. Ideally grain is stored in sacks
or in wooden boxes which are not sealed airtight.
Grain is hygroscopic, i.e. water is absorbed a damp atmosphere. If the grain is too wet
when it is ground, this might cause clogging of the millstones and/or blocking of the flour
outlet.
The „knife test" has proven ideal in order to check whether the grain is dry enough before
it is ground. Dry grain bursts with a distinct cracking sound when trying the crush it on a hard
surface with a knife. Grain which is too wet can be pressed to flakes.
If the grain is too wet, place it for some days in a basket somewhere warm (on the heating for
example) or put it in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 50°C.
cleaning
Unplug the mill before cleaning.
Do not use water for cleaning the stones.
It is absolutely sufficient to wipe the outside of mill clean with a dry cloth. Do not use any abrasive
detergents.
If you do not use the mill regularly, you should clean the stones and rollers before each new operation.
Cleaning may also be necessary if the stones are blocked due to the usage of damp grains.
For cleaning the stones, just grind a handful of rice or wheat with intermediate setting.
