Please note
Check the condition of your plaster before starting work.
Steam can loosen weak, porous or poorly adhering plaster - which can also come off
easily if it is cracked, has a hole or if the steam plate is held in one position for too
long after the paper has soaked through.
Weak plaster can usually be detected by tapping the wall in a few places. A hollow
sound indicates that you should proceed with extreme caution - stop immediately if
you hear a crackling sound or if the plaster starts to come loose.
The steam stripper is safe for plasterboard, but whatever the material, it is always
wise to check a small area before you really start.
Protecting your home
The heat generated by the boiler unit can stain carpets, soft furnishings, tabletops,
cabinets, etc. To prevent this, we recommend placing the appliance on a wooden
shelf, tray or other barrier - make sure that the appliance cannot slide or tilt from one
side during use.
Sheets of fabric or newspapers are not suitable protectors for delicate surfaces.
Preparation
To remove the paper as quickly as possible, you must
gently scratch the areas to be stripped.
This is essential with heavily embossed, vinyl-coated or
dyed paper. Use a hole punch or make criss-cross
indentations in the paper with the edge of a wall scraper, at
150 mm (6 inches) intervals.
As with all decorating work, protect carpets and furniture
with covers.
Operation
STEAM IS HOT! The device is designed for safe and quick wallpaper removal, but
please note that the steam is produced at 100⁰C - so please be careful, wear
protective clothing and protect your hands with heat-resistant gloves or mittens.
FILLING:
Remove the elbow filler cap and fill to MAX. level indicator with clean - preferably hot
- water. Make sure that the O-ring is correctly seated on the elbow filler cap. The
capacity of 4.5 litres gives about 180 minutes of steaming time before the safety shut-
off is activated. For a shorter steaming time, use less water. Do not overfill the
appliance, otherwise hot water will be forced upwards via the steam hose.
Screw the hose onto the threaded outlet of the steam plate, hand-tight is sufficient.
Do not over-tighten but check occasionally that the hose is hand-tight during use.
