Adjusting the Speed/Impact Rate
The constant electronic control keeps the preselected speed
and impact rate nearly constant between no-load and load
conditions.
The electronic control enables continuous speed and impact
rate preselection for material-specific adjustments.
Select the speed with the thumbwheel (7) according to the
material.
When inserting the mains plug into the plug socket or after a
power failure, the electronic control automatically sets the
highest speed and impact rate. This ensures that the power
tool works at optimum performance even if the
thumbwheel (7) has been preset too low.
The information in the table below is the recommended val-
ues.

Changing the chiselling position (Vario-Lock)
You can lock the chisel in 12 different positions, allowing
you to select the optimum working position for each task.
– Insert the chisel into the tool holder.
– Push the chisel adjustment ring (3) forwards and turn the
chisel to the required position with the chisel adjustment
ring (3).
– Release the chisel adjustment ring (3) and turn the chisel
until it audibly clicks into place.

Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any

work on the power tool.
To ensure safe and efficient operation, always keep

the power tool and the ventilation slots clean.
Bosch Power Tools
In order to avoid safety hazards, if the power supply cord
needs to be replaced, this must be done by Bosch or by an
after-sales service centre that is authorised to repair Bosch
power tools.
Replace a damaged dust protection cap immediately.

It is recommended that you have use an after-sales
service for this.
Lubrication
The power tool is lubricated with grease and is ready for im-
mediate use.
The lubricating grease should only be changed during main-
tenance or commissioning carried out by an after-sales ser-
vice centre authorised to work with Bosch power tools. It is
crucial that only lubricating grease provided by Bosch is
used.
The lubricating grease must be changed every time the car-
bon brushes are replaced. The old lubricating grease must
be removed before new lubricating grease is applied.
Service indicator
When the carbon brushes are worn out, the power tool
switches itself off. This is indicated approx. eight hours be-
forehand by the service indicator (8) lighting up or flicker-

Stand by indicator
When the mains plug is plugged in and there is a mains
voltage, the stand by indicator (9) should light up.
If the power tool cannot be switched on when the stand by
indicator (9) is lit, it must be sent to the after-sales service.
