3 On the VARIXIO Pro Mag, using the
®
dial to the right of the digital screen,
select the type of capsule (always
AIR when using
Air), sclerosant (POL or STS) and
concentration (< 1% or ≥ 1% for POL,
or < 0.5% or ≥ 0.5% for STS), and
press the dial to confirm the selection.
Without removing the syringe from the
Luer port, initiate stirring by pressing
the dial again (same dial as used for
the parameter selection process, to
the right of the digital screen). Wait as
the foam is produced.
4 Once stirring is completed (less
than 45 seconds), the device will
automatically reduce speed (without
stopping completely) and show a
syringe icon on the display, indicating
that the foam can be withdrawn.
Before withdrawing the foam, open the

top seal (A) and press in the plunger
on the syringe (B) to completely empty
any air from the system.
Leave the capsule on the stirrer, and

as stirring continues at low speed,
proceed to aspirate
Withdraw up to 9 ml of foam at a
speed not above 1 ml per second.
Once the desired volume of foam has

been drawn, the top seal and Luer
lock can be closed. The remaining
foam can be kept inside the capsule
for subsequent withdrawal, stirring at
low speed, for up to 15 minutes.

8 Finally, stop the stirring by pressing
on the dial and properly dispose of
the capsule.
Precautions and restrictions
for use
VARIXIO should not be used in any situation in which treatment
®
with sclerosant foam is not indicated. There are no known adverse
effects or complications derived from the use of VARIXIO
it is used according to these instructions for use. The incorrect
selection of parameters from the menu or accidental interruption
to the program for any reason may result in a sub-optimal foam,
but this does not represent a risk for the patient provided the
foam injected is limited to the indicated 9 ml. If, for any reason,
the foam generated has large visible bubbles, it is recommended
to dispose of the capsule and start again.
Expiry date and storage
VARIXIO Pod Air are provided sterile in a bag and should not be
®
used if this bag appears to be damaged or is not correctly sealed
potentially compromising sterility. VARIXIO
single use and should be disposed of appropriately after use.
VARIXIO Pod Air are for single use and cannot be re-sterilized
®
once the packaging has been opened. VARIXIO
be stored in a dry place at temperatures not above 25ºC. The
manufacturer does not guarantee sterility after the expiry date.
