5.4 Lacquering with LP/W Lacquer
For the surface finish all at present known hard acryla-
te-based otoplastic materials can be coated with LP/W
lacquer to improve the fitting of the earmold ("non-skid
coating").
• The entire surface of the earmold always has to
be roughened with corundum paper, grit 180, (REF
40704) first.
• Then, fix the BTE / ITE earmold onto a piece of nylon
tube (REF 97200). For an ITE earmold, the alligator
clip of the turning motor can be fixed on the opened
battery door.
• Then, clean and degrease the surface carefully with
surface cleaner by using the hand-spray pump (REF
86732). Apply the lacquer evenly with the brush.
• Let the lacquer dry in the light-curing unit rotating for
about 9 minutes.
• After the polymerization, the earmold (but do not
immerse ITE earmolds with built-in electronics) is put
into the LP-cleaner bath (in the round jar REF 52800)
and then a second polymerization in the light-curing
unit egger eLED.LP3 is to be done for about 6
minutes. This process is necessary to remove the
inhibition layer (sticky surface) as a result from the
first polymerization.
• To finish the process, the earmold is rinsed under
water and is blown dry.
• Then, clean earmolds for 3 minutes in ultrasonic bath of
water / isopropanol 1:1 (weigthing %), treat with iso-
propanol and let dry at 37 °C for approx. 60 minutes.

5.5 Modifications / Repairs with Modeling Pastes
The LP/H modeling pastes can be universally used for
various modifications and repairs with all kinds of hard
UV-curing polymerizates or acrylates.
• First of all, the part of the earmold that is to be pro-
cessed always has to be roughened with corundum
paper, grit 180, (REF 40704).
• Then, clean and degrease the surface carefully with
surface cleaner by using the hand-spray pump (REF
86732).
• Apply the modeling paste directly from the tube with
the modeling instrument (REF 31215) and smooth the
transitions to the ground.
• Then, depending on the coating thickness applied, let
it cure for about 2 – 6 minutes in the light-curing unit
egger eLED.LP3.
• After the polymerization of the surface, wipe off the
earmold by using a surface cleaner moistened cloth.
• If required, rework the earmold with a cutter and
prepare it for lacquering as described in 5.3 / 5.4
5.6 Optional Manufacturing of BTE Earmolds and ITE
Shells
Using the optionally available metalized insert, proces-
sing of egger LP/H UV-polymerizates for the manufactu-
ring of BTE earmolds and ITE shells is possible.
Tip: the metalized insert carton is fixed with included
adhesive dots at insert. For this purpose, adhesive dots
are attached to punched marking of metalized carton and
pressed to the insert.
