These operating instructions are valid for the MSRT-1000
roughness tester. Only qualified personnel may handle
the roughness tester.
WARNING Read all safety warnings and all in-
structions. Failure to follow the warnings and in-
structions may result in electric shock, fire and/or
serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future refer-
ence.

The roughness tester is intended for measuring the sur-
face roughness (Ra, Rz, Rq and Rt) of metallic and non-
metallic surfaces.

All uses other than those described under section
1.2 are regarded as incorrect use and are there-
fore not admissible.

Open the case and check the
roughness tester for visible dam-
age. Damaged meters may not be
used.
Remove any protective films.
The stated supply voltage must match the provided line
voltage.
Only use SUHNER accessories that have been supplied
with the product.
The meter may not be operated in a room that contains
explosive gases. An electric spark may trigger an explo-
sion.

Press the power button (2) for 2 seconds until a signal
tone is emitted. The setting of the last measurement will
be displayed. To switch the meter off, press the power
button for 2 seconds again. If the power button is not
pressed, the meter will switch itself off automatically after
a few minutes.
