BATTERIES
The battery supplied is partially charged (to ensure
full capacity of the battery, completely charge the battery
in the battery charger before using your power tool for the
first time)
Only use the following batteries and chargers with
this tool
- SKIL battery: BR1*31****
- SKIL charger: CR1*31****
Do not use the battery when damaged; it should be
replaced
Do not disassemble the battery
Do not expose tool/battery to rain
Permitted ambient temperature (tool/charger/battery):
- when charging 4...40°C
- during operation –20...+50°C
- during storage –20...+50°C
EXPLANATION OF SYMBOLS ON TOOL/BATTERY
3 Read the instruction manual before use
4 Batteries may explode when disposed of in fire, so do not
burn battery for any reason
5 Store tool/charger/battery in locations where temperature
will not exceed 50°C
6 Do not dispose of electric tools and batteries together
with household waste material
USE
Charging battery
! read the safety warnings and instructions
provided with the charger
Removing/installing the battery 2
Battery level indicator 7
- press the battery level indicator button J to show the
current battery level 7a
! when the lowest level of the battery indicator
starts flashing after pressing button J 7b, the
battery is empty
! when 2 levels of the battery indicator start flashing
after pressing button J 7c, the battery is not
within the allowable operating temperature range
Combined switch for on/off and speed control with
locking button 8 9
- first unlock by pressing button F
- switch on the tool by pulling trigger G
- control the speed steplessly from zero to maximum by
putting less or more pressure on the trigger
- switch off by releasing trigger G
Locking button F can be activated 8
- if activated, the on/off switch is blocked and the
machine is secured against being switched on
unintentionally
Dual LED lights K q
Dual LED lights automatically light on when activating
switch G
! when LED lights start flashing, the battery
protection is activated (see below)
Battery protection
The tool is suddenly being switched off or prevented from
being switched on, when
- the load is too high --> remove load and restart
- the battery temperature is not within the allowable
operating temperature range of -20 to +50°C --> 2
levels of the battery level indicator start flashing when
pressing button J 7c; wait until battery has returned
within the allowable operating temperature range
- the battery is nearly empty (to protect against
deep discharge) --> a low battery level or flashing low
battery level ub is shown by the battery level indicator
when pressing button J; charge battery
! do not continue to press the on/off switch after the
tool is switched off automatically; battery may be
damaged

! remove battery from tool before making any
adjustments or changing accessories
- turn blade clamp C in same direction as arrow on tool
and hold it in that position
- insert blade (with teeth facing down or up) to full depth
- release blade clamp C
- push in and pull out blade to check whether it is locked
correctly

Operating the tool
! securely clamp the workpiece
- mark the cutting line on the workpiece
- mount battery on tool
- hold the tool with one hand on handle H and the other
on the insulated barrel grip D
- switch on the tool
- guide the tool along the marked cutting line
- keep pivot shoe B firmly against the workpiece to
minimize counter-force and vibration
Holding and guiding the tool
! while working, always hold the tool at the grey-
coloured grip area(s) e
- keep ventilation slots E uncovered
- do not apply too much pressure on the tool; let the tool
do the work for you
! ensure that the saw blade extends beyond the
work throughout the stroke r
Pivoting the shoe t
- depress the locking button F to the locked position and
then remove the battery pack from the tool.
- firmly hold the saw and then pivot the shoe B to the
desired angle, while taking care to avoid contact with
the blade.
- reinstall the battery and prepare to cut
APPLICATION ADVICE
Plunge cutting y
Plunge cuts can be made in wood and other soft
materials without pre-drilling a hole
- use a thick saw blade
! remove battery from tool before making any
adjustments or changing accessories
- mark desired cutting line on the workpiece
- tilt the tool so that the blade does not touch the
workpiece
- switch on the tool and carefully engage the moving saw
