Informationen zum Vorbild:
Die Französischen Staatsbahnen (SNCF) beschaf-
fen mit den Synchronmotor-Zweistromlokomoti-
ven der Reihe BB 426 070 „SYBIC" (SYnchrone
BICourant) Universallokomotiven mit modernster
Technik.
Diese Lokomotiven können sowohl Reisezüge von
750 t (16 Wagen) mit 200 km/h als auch Güterzüge
von 2000 t mit 100 km/h befördern. Sie leisten
5600 kW und sind mit Wechselstrom von 25 kV
und Gleichstrom mit 1,5 kV zu betreiben.
Der kantige, für Eisenbahnfahrzeuge eher ungewöhn-
liche Aufbau hat die höchste französische Designer-
Auszeichnung erhalten, den „Prix Janus 1988".
Die aerodynamisch gestalteten Fronten sind so
konstruiert, dass sie bei einem Frontal-
zusammenstoß als Knautschzone dienen.

Information about the Prototype:
The French State Railways (SNCF) are procuring
general-purpose locomotives with the latest tech-
nology in the class BB 426 070 "SYBIC" (SYnchro-
neBICourant or Synchronous Dual Current) dual
current locomotives with synchronous motors.
These locomotives can pull 750 ton passenger-
trains (16 cars) at 200 km/h (125 m.p.h.) as well as
2,000 ton freight trains at 100 km/h (62.5 m.p.h.).
They have an output of 5,600 kilowatts and can be
operated with 25 kilovolt AC and 1.5 kilovolt DC.
The angular (rather unsual for railroad motive
power) body has been given the highest French
design award, the "Prix Janus 1988".
The aerodynamically formed ends are designed in
such a way that they serve as shock absorption
zones in case of head-on collisions.
