Guidelines for use

Your battery has been designed to power e-motors, fish finders etc. but is not suitable to use as a
starter battery for internal combustion engines.
Discharging
Fully discharging your battery is not harmful. The battery is protected by an advanced integrated
BMS (battery management system). Charge the battery as soon as possible after a full discharge;
due to low self-discharge (~ 2% per month) voltage may drop below critical levels and damage the
battery irreversibly. When the battery is not in use turn off the power switch to prevent the battery
being discharged by the USB and charge status indicator in standby mode, If the battery is not
used for a longer period, we recommend charging to 50% for optimum service life.
Charging
Only use the battery charger that came with your package. Lead-acid battery chargers should not
be used to charge your battery. Never use a battery charger with a charge voltage >29.4V or with
a different charging profile than CC/CV. This can be very dangerous and damage your battery!
You can top-up or partly charge your battery whenever you so desire, there is no so-called
'memory effect'. The batteries cannot be charged at temperatures of 0°C and lower. The
maximum charge current should not be higher than 20A per battery.
Battery charger
Before you connect the power cord to an outlet, first connect the charger to the battery by
connecting the red (+) and black (-) crocodile clamps to the M8 battery terminals. The charge
status is indicated through the 2 LED's. 2 red lights: battery is charging. 1 red and 1 green light:
charging process is complete. Disconnect the power cord before disconnecting the charge cables.
It will take 4-5 hours to fully charge an empty battery. After ~ 3 hours the battery will be
approximately 70% charged. Read the warnings on the sticker of the charger and follow the
instructions!
Use with an e-motor
Always ensure safe and good quality connections with your e-motor, and use sufficiently thick
cables and a secure connector, such as with the Rebelcell Quick Connect EM cable. As the
voltage of your battery is higher than with lead-acid batteries and remains constant till the battery
is nearly empty you will notice that thrust remains high and constant. This will allow you to use
your outboard in a lower gear. This can significantly increase the runtime of your e-motor. As the
voltage is higher and is reduced gradually the battery capacity indicator or your e-motor is not
reliable.
Power switch
There is a power switch on top of the battery for the state of charge (SOC) indicator and USB port.
When not using the battery set it to the 'off' position to avoid battery discharge by the standby
function of the SOC indicator and/or USB port.
State of charge indicator and USB port
Your battery comes equipped with a digital state of charge indicator and USB port (to easily
charge tablet and smartphone) that can be found on top of your battery. You can activate the
indicator by switching the power switch to 'on'.
BMS and safety
The BMS protects your battery and contributes towards a long service life. Functions of the BMS
are protection against deep discharge, overcharge, too high or too low temperatures, high
currents, and cell balancing. When certain safety thresholds are exceeded the battery will
shutdown as a precaution, and will turn itself on when the battery operates within specification.
