Assembly of the electromechanical locking module
in the safe door
The locking module (1) can be installed in any spatial position orientation,
in combination with the matching lock shaft. Care must be taken to ensure
that the axis positions of the locking module and the operating unit (10) are
precisely assigned so that the maximum lateral angular deviation of the drive
shaft does not exceed 2°.
The locking module is used in metal safes and must be protected against direct
or indirect external access by suitable armouring measures.
For locks from lock class 2(B) there must be at least two spaced layers of steel
with a thickness of at least 3 mm each between the locking module and the
outer surface of the door. It is also recommended to secure the bolt mechanism
cover on the back of the door with a lock to prevent direct access to the locking
module when the door is open.
It is essential to prevent dirt, dust or moisture from entering the module during
installation. The electromechanical locking module must not be oiled, greased
or painted. Note that the relative humidity should not exceed 95% (non-con-
densing) for the lock to function correctly. Any concrete adjacent to the bolt
room must be dry.

The keypad cable (13) that is fed through must not be pinched during the
subsequent assembly of the locking module. The locking module (1) is attached
to four mounting positions (2) located on one level by means of four M6 pan
head screws with a thickness of 8.8 and a length of 20 mm that are inserted into
the four openings provided in the locking module. Opening the cover is not
necessary for this purpose and is not intended. The security sealing band (3)
clearly illustrates this. It is recommended using the screws supplied or screws
with a maximum head height of 4 mm and a maximum head diameter of 10 mm
for screwing on.
Other screw heads could interfere with the lock function. The applicable screw-in
depth should be selected according to the state of the art, but should not be
less than 3 mm. The locking module is then tightened with a maximum torque
of 10 Nm. Use liquid thread locker which prevents the screws from loosening.
The bolt stroke of the blocking element is 11 mm. The lock shaft (6) pre-
assembled in the input unit is inserted from the front into the feed-through
channel of the locking module so that the key flats engage at the end in the
designated shaped hole inside the locking module.
The M4 screw (7) with the blue spot on the thread is used to secure the
connection between the lock shaft and the locking module.
Do not use a cordless screwdriver for this.
Screw this screw from the cover side of the unopened locking module into the
end of the lock shaft until the axial play of the shaft approaches zero. If you try
to turn the operating lever by hand, you will feel that the rotation becomes
difficult when the play is close to zero.
Now loosen the screw by about half a turn and the operating lever can be
turned easily again.
The screw is equipped with a thread locking adhesive (blue spot), which fixes it in
its position. Under no circumstances should you tighten the screw firmly, as this
will prevent the operating lever from turning freely. However, do not leave a large
axial play, otherwise the function is not guaranteed.
Finally, attach the enclosed oval adhesive label (8) to the cover of the locking
module above the screw feed-through opening.
Establishing the electrical connection between input
unit and the locking module electronics
The keypad cable (13) is laid without tensile stress directly in the lock shaft
feed-through channel. The locking module has a semicircular groove in the
base in which the inwardly running keypad cable can also be routed directly
under the locking module without being pinched. The cable is led up to the
plug area of the locking module and then connected there.
If there is too much free length of cable, it can be rolled up into a loop using
cable ties or adhesive strips. Under no circumstances should it come into
contact with moving elements of the door mechanism.
If the lock type to be mounted is a redundant version, two separate adjacent
plug connections are required instead of one single plug connection. The
assignment of the cable plugs to the sockets of the two boards is not important
for the initial assembly. Please ensure that the connection remains as free of
tension as possible. Finally, please check the lock function several times with
the safe door open.
Bolt strength according to VdS 2396
Under normal use, the maximum permissible
forces on the lock bolt in the direction of tension
and compression are 5 N. This force can be applied
for at least 10,000 cycles.
The figure on the right shows the maximum
permissible forces on the bolt (in the opening
direction and from right-angled lateral directions),
after which the lock is still capable of limited closing
(resistance to a forced attack).
