Preparing for Use
Using a heater/humidifier (optional)
The humidifier moistens and warms up the air breathed.
System compliance increases when a heater/humidifier
is used.
Check the tidal volume.
Use the heater/humidifier indicated under "Accessories"
on the Order List on page 93.
Prepare the heater/humidifier according to the separate
instructions for use and place it near the RespiCare VV.
Ensure it cannot fall.
1 Attach elbow connector to inspiration nozzle of hose
system and to cone on device.
2 Attach breathing valve control line to nozzle on device.
3 Detach inspiration hose from inspiration nozzle and
Y-piece.
3 Connect the heater/humidifier connecting hoses to the
inspiration nozzle and the Y-piece.
When using a heater/humidifier, do not use a
humidity/heat exchanger. There is a risk of increased
condensation, impairment of device operation and
putting the patient at risk.

When concentrations between 25 and 50 % by volume are
necessary, an O
enrichment set should be used:

4 Insert filter disc (disposable microbial filter) into the
housing of the O
enrichment set, with the rough side of
2
the filter disc towards the RespiCare VV housing.
Replace the filter:
– every 500 hours in outdoor use,
– every 1200 hours in indoor use.
A dirty filter could impair the operation of the device and
put the patient at risk.
Used filters can be disposed of as domestic waste.

enrichment set housing firmly on to the air inlet.

supply hose to angled nozzle on housing and

connect to an O
supply, such as an O

meter and flow valve, or to an O
Dräger Permox SC.
Optional O
monitoring with an alarm device should be

used when using an O
