Introduction
CleanAIR® is a personal respiratory protection system based on overpressure of fi ltered air in the breathing zone.
The powered air purifying respirator (hereinafter referred to as the "PAPR") sucks in air from the surrounding environment
and supplies it to the protection hood or mask. The resulting overpressure prevents contaminants from passing into the
breathing zone. At the same time the light overpressure ensures high user comfort even when worn for a long time, because
there is no need to overcome any breathing resistance of the fi lter. The system keeps the selected airfl ow regardless of the
fi lter clogging or the degree of battery charge.
To ensure eff icient protection, it is necessary to choose a suitable combination of PAPR unit and protective headtop. It is also
important to use the proper fi lters of the same type in regards to the kind of contamination and its concentration.
The CleanAIR® MedicAER® meets the requirements of the EN 12941 and EN 12942. Depending on the fi lters used, it provides
protection against non-toxic as well as toxic particles and harmful gases.
2.
Instructions for use
Carefully read and follow the instructions stated in this user manual. The user must know exactly how to use the protective
equipment correctly.
If, for any reason, the PAPR unit stops working, the user must leave the contaminated environment immediately. It
applies even though the system provides suff icient protection according to EN 12942 while switched off .
If used with the hood when the unit is switched off , the respiratory protection is low or none. In that case there is a
risk of rapid increase of concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease of oxygen concentration. The situation when the
unit is switched off when used with the hood is abnormal.
CleanAIR® MedicAER® must not be used when the amount of incoming air is insuff icient.
CleanAIR® MedicAER® must not be used in areas where oxygen concentration is below 17%.
CleanAIR® MedicAER® must not be used in areas where the user has no knowledge about the nature of contamination
or its concentration.
CleanAIR® MedicAER® must not be used in areas where there is a risk of explosion.
CleanAIR® MedicAER® must not be used in confi ned spaces, such as closed tanks, tunnels, sewers, etc.
Before each use, check the airfl ow with the enclosed fl ow indicator. The fl ow rate is insuff icient if the top edge of the
cone is in the red zone (see Section 4.2 "Airfl ow test").
Worn headtops must fi t tightly onto face to ensure declared level of protection for the wearer. If a beard or long hair
interferes with the sealing line, this may negatively aff ect the protection provided by the system.
It is very important to choose appropriate fi lters for the relevant kind of contamination.
Follow the instructions in the user manual enclosed with the fi lters.
The unit provides protection against diff erent contaminants depending on selected fi lters.
Filters designed for fi ltering solid and liquid aerosols do not protect the user against gases.
Filters designed for fi ltering gases and vapours do not protect the user against particles.
Filters designed just for fi ltering gases and vapours are not recommended to use on PAPR unit if they are not combined
with a particle insert for the fi ltration of particles.
Filters must not be attached directly to the hood.
Use only original CleanAIR® particle or combined fi lters designed for your CleanAIR® MedicAER® PAPR unit.
Always replace the fi lters if you notice a change in the smell of the air coming out of the unit.
CleanAIR® MedicAER® does not remove carbon monoxide (CO) or carbon dioxide (CO
Filters designed for fi ltering mercury are prohibited to use for longer than 50 working hours.
Always follow your local regulations for using PAPR units, fi lters and PPE.
If any rule or instruction stated in this manual is not observed, the warranty becomes null and void!

4. Connect the hose to the headtop.
4.
Before use
4.1.
Control procedure before every use - make sure that:
All components are in good condition without any visible damage. Replace every damaged and worn out part.
The hose is connected correctly to the PAPR unit as well as to the headtop.
Airfl ow is suff icient (Section 4.2.).
4.2.
Airfl ow test
1.
Disconnect the air hose from the unit.
2. Connect the fl ow indicator to the unit.
3. Switch the PAPR unit on.
If the pointer's top edge enters the red zone, airfl ow is insuff icient and the fi lters must be replaced!
4.3.
Alarm test
To check if the alarm works properly, close the air output with your palm and turn the unit on. You should hear and see
alarm signals within 10 seconds.
5.
Maintenance, cleaning and decontamination
At the end of each working shift, it is recommended to check and clean all parts of the system and replace those that
are damaged.
Do not use aggressive detergents and solvents for cleaning! We recommend using common non-abrasive clean-
ing products.
Cleaning products must never penetrate the PAPR unit or the battery!
Use a damp cloth for cleaning and wipe the surface dry afterwards.
Cleaning should be done in a well ventilated room.
Beware of breathing in any particles and fi bres settled on parts of the PAPR unit or its accessories!
