9. Before starting the equipment

• The machine has to be set up where it can stand
firmly, e.g. on a work bench, or it must be bolted to
a strong base.
• All covers and safety devices have to be properly
fitted before the machine is switched on.
• It must be possible for the cutting-off wheel to run
freely.
• Before you actuate the ON/OFF-switch, make sure
that the cutting-off wheel is correctly fitted and that
the machineʼs moving parts run smoothly.
• Before you connect the machine to the power sup-
ply, make sure the data on the rating plate is the
same as that for your mains.
• The machine must only be connected to a properly
installed safety socket which is protected by a fuse
of at least 16A.

10. Assembly

Attention! Remove the mains plug before any
maintenance, modification and assembly work
on the electrical tool.
Installing the clamping handle (5)
The vice's clamping handle (5) must be fitted prior to
starting up for the first time.
To do this, loosen the Philips head screw (pre-installed)
on the vice's threaded spindle and push the clamping
handle (5) onto the threaded spindle.
Ensure that the mating surfaces on the threaded spindle
and the clamping handle (5) are flush and that the clamp-
ing handle (5) is pushed completely onto the threaded
spindle.
Then screw the Philips head screw back in to the
threaded spindle.

11. Start up

m ATTENTION!
Always make sure the device is fully assembled
before start-up!
11.1 Transport brace / carry-handle (Fig. 1)
• Use the handle (4) to push the machine head (1)
downwards and remove the locking chain (12).
• Slowly raise the machine head (1).
• Caution! The resetting spring lifts the machine
head (1) automatically. Therefore, do not simply
let go of the handle (4) after cutting, but allow the
machine head (1) to rise slowly by applying slight
counter pressure.
• Fig.1 shows the machine head (1) in its upper position.
• For transport, use the locking chain (12) to lock the
machine head (1) in the bottom position again.
• The saw is equipped with a carry-handle (14) to
make it easier to transport.
11.2 Vice (Fig. 1/2)
Every workpiece has to be fastened in the vice before
it is cut.
• Flip up the quick clamping lever (8).
• Pull the spindle out until the workpiece can be
clamped between the clamping surfaces (6/7) on
the vice.
• Note: You do not have to turn the spindle if the quick
clamping lever (8) is folded upwards. The clamping
handle can be pulled out or pushed in to the exact
amount required.
• Push the clamping handle (6) forward to the point
where both jaws touch the workpiece.
• Flip down the quick clamping lever (8) again so that
the clamping handle and quick clamping lever en-
gage with each other.
• Turn the crank handle (5) to clamp the workpiece
securely in the vice.
11.3 ON/OFF-switch (Fig.1)
• Unlock the locking switch (2) and press the on/off
switch (3) to switch the metal cutter on.
• Release the on/off switch (3) again to switch the
metal cutter off.

11.4 Making a cut

• Clamp the workpiece securely in the vice.
• Switch on the machine and wait for the motor to
reach its top speed.
• Push down the machine head (1)by the handle (4)
until the cutting-off wheel makes slight contact with
the workpiece.
• Move the cutting wheel (15) smoothly through the
material you want to cut.
• Important: Avoid causing the cutting-off wheel to
jump or chatter. This will only result in cuts of poor
quality or a broken wheel.
