2) Control solution containment safeguard for UVC Fixture
Proposed solution with sequencing and location requirement
Operation:
• Key switch S3 is closed by Trained Person which provides power to RY1-2.
• Trained Person enters Area and pushes S1-2 causing contacts on RY1-2 to close.
• S1-2 are strategically located so that the Trained Person traverses the entire Area assuring nobody is in
there.
• After S1-2 have been pushed RY1-2 remain energized and their 2nd contacts in series with RY3 remain
closed.
• Trained Person exits Area and closes doors/gates to space whereupon interlock switches S4-5 close
completing the current path-through RY3, energizing UV-C lighting.
• When UV-C fixture is turned off via S3 RY1-2 reset to their open state.
• Any open circuit in wiring will cause RY3 to remain deenergized.
• Entry to the space via door/gates protected with interlock switches S4-5 deenergizes RY3.
This solution is designed for two doors or gate with two push buttons located in area.
Area clearance verification Push Buttons
Latching relay structure allows use of momentary
switches inside area. Buttons must be pushed to
latch relay on.
