With the aid of the test probe as earth, components can be activated that have been removed from
the circuit of a motor vehicle can be activated. Headlights, fans, injection pumps, etc. can be tested,

1.
Touch the negative pole of the removed component with the earth cable.
2.
Now touch the positive pole of the component with the test probe. If the GREEN LED lights up,
there is conductivity.
3.
Move the polarity switch forward and release it directly. If the LED now changes from GREEN to
RED, continue with the test. If the RED LED does not light up, the multitester is probably overloa-
ded or the protective fuse has blown. This can be caused by the following:
•
The removed component has a short circuit or has been directly earthed.
•
The removed component is a high-voltage device.
If the protective fuse has blown, the unit can only be put back into operation after 60 seconds.
By then the fuse has regenerated.

During a test, the unit can be used to supply positive voltage to the component.
To do this, follow the steps:
1.
Touch the test probe to the positive pole of the component. When the GREEN LED lights up,
conductivity is indicated.
2.
Now move the polarity switch forward and release it again directly. If the LED now changes from
GREEN to RED, continue with the test. If the RED LED does not light up, the multitester is
probably overloaded or the protective fuse has blown.
This can have the following causes:
•
The removed component has a short circuit or has been directly earthed/connected to a
negative terminal.
•
The removed component is a high-voltage device.
