Inserting the Batteries
1.
Slide the battery compartment cover off in the direc-
tion of the arrow.
2.
Remove any batteries already inserted.
3.
Insert 2 new batteries, pay attention to correct polarity,
see diagram.
4.
Slide the battery compartment cover back on opposite
to the direction of the arrow until it audibly snaps in
place.
If the top line in the display shows the battery icon and
Lo" appears, the battery charge capacity is low: change
the batteries.
You can still use the thermometer for a short time despite a low bat-
tery charge but change the batteries as soon as possible.

Operation
Before measuring the body temperature, ensure that
S
the ear to be used has no disorders,
S
the ear is free of excessive ear wax,
S
the person being checked is relaxed and
S
the person being checked has not just got out of a hot bath. Wait at
least 30 minutes between getting out of a hot bath and measuring the
body temperature.
We recommend measuring the body temperature at least 3 times and using
the highest value measured as the result.
After removing the thermometer from the storage box, proceed as follows:
1.
Remove the protective cap from the thermometer.
2.
Press the On/Off button to switch the thermometer on.

All indicators appear briefly in the display (self−test).

The last temperature measured is displayed. The memory icon
(M = Memory) also appears in the top line of the display.

The thermometer switches to Measuring mode. The ear icon in the top
line of the display flashes 3 times. When the ear icon appears
permanently, the thermometer is ready to use. The thermometer
prompts you vocally to begin with the measurement.
3.
Insert the measuring sensor into the ear:
Take hold of the ear at the top and pull the ear carefully upwards and back
to stretch the naturally bent ear canal. Insert the measuring sensor care-
fully in the ear canal until the measuring sensor fills the ear canal.
CAUTION: Never use any force to insert the measuring sensor
in the ear canal. Risk of injury!
Excessive ear wax can falsify the measured value (measured
value too low). Ensure that the ear canal is free of excessive
ear wax.
