LASERBEAM in an electronic device made of two sections of plastic material, one containing the circuit MASTER with the lithium battery, the
transmitter, the reed of self-protection (tamper) and the programming dip-switch; the other, SLAVE, contains only the battery and the
programming dip-switch. The two sections are to be installed one in front of the other, at the maximum distance allowed by the capacity: the
connection of the batteries creates a barrier of two invisible and modulated infra-red rays. Breakdown of one of them causes the alarm condition
that is transmitted by radio. No electrical connection or anything else is required for the installation.
The special low -consumption technology used and licensed by Silentron allows the barrier over 1 year life according to use.
LASERBEAM can be used to protect an access and can be installed either indoor or outdoor. In outdoor installations Laserbeam has to be
sheltered from direct sunlight in order to avoid a possible, even drastic, range decrease.
Dip-switch n. 3 can be used to increase immunity to direct sunlight. Thanks to the special plastic joint supplied, two barriers can be placed one
on the top of the other, in this case each barrier has to have dip-switches 1 and 2 in different position. Empty tubes (code 5971) can also be
used in-between to reach desired height. LASERBEAM triggers off an alarm when one of the rays is broken across. An "alarm end" signal can
be obtained when the ray is restored, setting dip-switch n. 4 in ON. On Silentron control units this alarm signal is shown by the LED called "open
door".All dip-switch setting has to be done before connecting the battery.
Power: 2 lithium battery AA 3,6V 2Ah - consumption: about 200 uA each bar - Autonomy: over 1 year
Indoor installation range: about 7m - this range can decrease in outdoor installations exposed to direct sunlight (range about 5m)
Codified signals transmitted: alarm(ray interruption) - end of alarm (ray restoration) - tamper - low battery - supervision.
Transmission: factory 40-bit pre-coded radio transmission - one (5013) or two (5413) emitters about 430 MHz and 860 MHz: frequency and
power emission according to CE Law Regulation – Operation range, without noises on the bands: open air about 100 meters - about 40 meters
inside residential environment.
Minimum time of intervention 0,2 seconds
Dimensions: see picture
Temperature:- 20°C + 55°C operating and stock
ARRANGEMENT OF DIP-SWITCH (see fig.2)
1 and 2 delay of transmission of alarm (seconds)
EXAMPLES OF INSTALLATION (see fig. 3)
Conditions: superimposed barriers – outdoor installation with transmission of "end of alarm"
installation of two barriers is possible if the utmost attention is paid to the side of mounting. The receiver is identified by a cover of black plastic
on the electronic component: the circuit must be inserted in the bar following carefully the picture (see also label on the back of the electronic
circuit).
ANTI-TAMPERING PROTECTION (TAMPER)
Laserbeam is self -protected: removal of one of the bars causes an alarm in any case, further protection of the bar MASTER can be obtained by
introducing the magnet supplied into the wall just next to reed (see picture 1) before superimposing the bar. If this protection is not used the
TAMPER shunt has to be kept closed (see picture 5).
INCIDENCE OF SUNLIGHT ON THE RECEIVER (see fig. 4)
It is necessary to avoid or protect the installation in case of the situation shown in the picture (picture 4): the sunlight contains a high infra-red
component that could saturate the receiver causing alarm. The higher is the distance between the bars (max about 5 m.) the higher is the
chance. The right position of the dip-switch 3 is essential to improve quality of outdoor installations.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE (fig. 1-3)
1
Remove the plastic caps and pull out the electronic circuits from the bars with care.
2
Adjust the dip-switch on MASTER and on SLAVE as described, according to the use required.
3
Set the control unit and/or the receiver for the learning of the radio code, then connect the battery in the bar MASTER: receiver will give
acoustic confirmation of the occurred code learning.
4
Allow the alignment test by inserting TEST shunt on both the bars.
5
Introduce the circuits in the bars paying attention to the right side (see labels on the back) and put the plastic caps on.
6
For outdoor use the joint between cap and shape has to be made waterproof with neutral silicon or in a similar way, to avoid that rainwater
will enter into the barriers.
7
Place the bars in the place of installation, and make functional tests: the alignment is automatic – ray breakdown causes a BEEP of the
buzzer inside of the bar master. If an obstacle breaks across a ray for over 30 seconds, synchronism will be restored after 1 minute from
the removal of the obstacle.
8
After the identification of the precise position of the bars, mark the fixing points on the wall and the position of the anti-tampering magnet, if
used.
9
Reopen the bars, remove the TEST shunt, close (in case) the TAMPER shunt and close the bars again with the circuits correctly put inside.
10
Make the fixing holes and the magnet hole, if stated, and proceed to fix the bars.
Any further test must be done breaking across a ray and checking that the radio signal of alarm is received by the receiver used.
BATTERIES REPLACEMENT: the device transmits the signal of "low battery", shown by the control unit. Proceed to replacement removing and
opening the bars until reaching batteries.
