Transmission Set
GB
Please read these operating instructions carefully
prior to operating the unit and keep them for later use.
1
Applications
This transmission set consisting of two signal convert-
ers allows to connect a monitor with VGA input to a
remote PC (e. g. if the PC is to be set up in a protect-
ed way or if its noise would be disturbing at the place
where it is operated). Transmission is made via CAT5
network cables with a maximum length of 105 m, de-
pending on the screen resolution required. In addition,
the signals of a keyboard and mouse, respectively
connected to a PS/2 port on the converter , will be
transmitted to the converter
cable. This converter is connected to the PC via USB.
The power for converting the keyboard and mouse
signals in the converter
is supplied via the USB in-
terface.

Important Notes
The transmission set corresponds to all required di-
rectives of the EU and is therefore marked with
The units are suitable for indoor use only. Protect
them against dripping water and splash water, high
air humidity, and heat (admissible ambient temper-
ature range 0 – 40 °C).
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use
water or chemicals.
No guarantee claims for the units and no liability for
any resulting personal damage or material damage
will be accepted if the units are used for other pur-
poses than originally intended, if they are not cor-
rectly connected, or not repaired in an expert way.
If the transmission set is to be put out of
operation definitively, take it to a local re-
cycling plant for a disposal which is not
harmful to the environment.

Connection
1) To allow installation of the USB driver for the
mouse and the keyboard which may be required,
first connect the keyboard, mouse, and monitor di-
rectly to the PC.
2) Connect the USB cable to the jack USB on the con-
verter
system of the PC will recognize the converter as a
new USB unit. If it is necessary to install standard
drivers, follow the instructions on the screen.
3) Instead of the monitor, connect the jack VGA on
the converter
secure the connection with the two screws of the
plug.
4) Connect the units to the converter
future operation: connect the monitor to the jack
VGA (fasten the securing screws), connect the
via another CAT5
mouse to the jack MOUSE and the keyboard to the
jack KEYBOARD.
5) For transmitting the monitor signal, interconnect
the jacks RJ1 of the two converters; for transmit-
ting the keyboard and mouse signals, interconnect
the jacks RJ2 of the two converters.
For connection, use CAT5 data cables: shielded
cables (STP = shielded twisted pair, also available
as S/FTP, SF/UTP, or S/UTP; e. g. MONACOR
"CAT-5100") or unshielded cables (UTP = unshield-
.
ed twisted pair). The contacts of the plugs must be
connected straight through (patch cable), i. e. the
cores must not be crossed as in crossover cables.
The maximum length of connection depends on
the screen resolution required and can be found in
the table below:
Screen resolution
800 × 600 pixels (30 MHz)
1024 × 768 pixels (60 MHz)
1280 × 1024 pixels (100 MHz)
If problems with vertical synchronization occur in
case of unshielded cables (UTP), these problems
may possibly be eliminated by connecting capaci-
tors by means of the switches SW 1 – 5 on the con-
verter . The higher the switch number, the higher
the capacitance switched with it. The switches can
also be activated in a combined way (position ON);
