Assembly
It is necessary during installation to comply with local
requirements, to follow codes of good practice and to follow
the installation instructions.
The installation location should be protected against frost and
be easily accessible
4.1 Installation Guidelines
•
Install shut-off valves
•
Install in horizontal pipework with spring bonnet
directed upwards
•
Ensure good access

– Simplifies maintenance and inspection
•
Install a strainer upstream of the mechanical
disconnector
– To protect the mechanical disconnector from dirt
•
Mechanical disconnectors must not be fitted in any
areas or ducts where poisonous gases or vapours
may be present or where flooding can occur
•
If pressure shock is anticipated in the outlet side of the
disconnector, a pressure shock damper or expansion
vessel must be fitted on the system downstream of the
disconnector
•
In order to avoid flooding, it is recommended to
arrange a permanent, professionally dimensioned
wastewater connection
•
These armatures need to be maintained regularly
4.2 Assembly instructions
•
The setting pressure of the backflow preventer must
correspond correctly with the installation which is
being protected (see 4.3 Commissioning).
•
Flush connecting pipework thoroughly before
installation
•
Install the backflow preventer with good accessibility
and with flow in the correct direction
•
Install the backflow preventer only in horizontal
pipework and with the discharge tundish
downwards

•
It is recommended that a Y-strainer (e.g. FY 30) be
fitted upstream to protect the changeover valve and
backflow preventer against dirt.
•
Fit shut-off valves and either side of the
backflow preventer
•
The shock arrestor supplied should be fitted in the
appropriate position (see illustration) either in front of
or on the backflow preventer (using the pressure
gauge tapping).
•
Connect discharge pipe (DN 40 plastics pipe or R1"
threaded pipe) to discharge tundish
•
The pressure gauge connection is fitted on the inlet
side of the backflow preventer.
•
Connect the electrical control wiring onto the
corresponding signal emitter according to guidelines
and statutory and local regulations.
CAUTION!
If there is a possibility, that when the backflow
preventer is in the shut-off position the water in the
downstream system may be heated, then a safety
