Connecting to the tractor
1. Make sure that the tractor's towbar does not get in the way. Move it forward or
remove it if necessary. The towbar must also be checked for clearance when the
equipment is lifted for the first time.
2. Adjust the bottom lifting arms on the tractor for the flail mower's fork suspension.
Place the bottom hitch pins in the lowest turning joint and attach split pins.
3. Connect the tractor's top bar to the flail mower's top connection and secure using a
locking pin.
4. Adjust the top bar in or out to get the top hitch pin to be vertically above or slightly
behind the bottom hitch pins – to allow the flail mower to move. Operate the flail
mower with its rear end 15 degrees lower than the front end.
Attaching the PTO shaft
1. Push the PTO shaft's end with the safety guard over the gearbox's shaft and secure
using the fixture.
2. Push the PTO shaft over the tractor's PTO shaft and secure using the PTO shaft's
locking unit.
3. Now move the PTO shaft forwards and backwards to check that it sits securely on the
tractor's PTO shaft and the flail mower's gearbox.
4. Connect the chain from the PTO shaft's guard to one of the top mounting brackets to
ensure that the guard does not rotate.
5. In case the PTO shaft must be shortened:
a) Hold the two halves next to one another in the shortest possible working
position and mark them off.
b) Shorten the inner and outer sheath tubes by the same distance.
c) Shorten the inner and outer slide runners to the same length as the sheath
tubes.
d) Correct overlap is at least half of the length of the tubes and both tubes should
be the same length.
e) Grind down all sharp edges and remove burrs. Lubricate the slide runners.
WARNING
The PTO guard and all guards must always be correctly and securely
attached before the flail mower is used.
