L USB 2.0 & IEEE 1394 Card Bus Instructions
Important instructions for the power supply
connection:
The PC Card supplies power to connected devices. The
maximum current available depends on the laptop
used. If devices that consume a large amount of
electricity do not function properly, it is a good idea to
use an external power supply unit.
Please note:
Use only switching power supply units with the
following specifications (we recommend Hama item
no. 46601):
• 12V DC current, at least 1500mA capacity
• Poles: outer negative (-) and inner positive (+)
Plug in the power supply unit and then connect it to the
PC card before inserting the card in the computer.
Caution: Failure to observe this warning can cause
damage!
Installing the software
Windows ® XP Home/Professional
Install the driver from the enclosed CD before inserting
the PC card in your laptop. Restart your computer.
Insert the PC card in the appropriate slot.
The Found New Hardware Wizard recognizes the
controller as ALI PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller
and IEEE 1394 Host Controller. Select Install the
software automatically (recommended)
If the message "The software you are installing for this
hardware:
ALI PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller or IEEE 1394
Host Controller has not passed Windows

Windows ® 2000 Professional:
Install the driver from the enclosed CD before inserting
the PC card in your laptop. Restart your computer.
Insert the PC card in the appropriate slot. The Found
New Hardware Wizard recognizes the controller as
ALI PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller and IEEE 1394
Host Controller. Windows ® then copies the required
files from the CD. Driver installation is complete.
