Installation
If you do not have the expertise required to carry out the installation, please
contact a specialist or a specialised shop and let them carry out the installa-
tion!
Incorrect installation can cause damage to the plug-in card and also to your
computer and all connected devices.
Caution, lethal hazard!
Switch off the computer in which the plug-in card is to be installed, and all con-
nected devices, and disconnect all devices from the mains voltage. Remove the
plug from the mains voltage! Switching off the device via the ON/OFF button is
not sufficient!
• Open your computer's casing and carefully remove the cover.
• Locate a free PCIe plug-in slot; remove the corresponding slot cover and insert the card into the
PCIe slot. Screw the plug-in card firmly into place and make sure it is positioned correctly in the
PCIe slot on the motherboard!
To install the plug-in card in a flat computer casing, a low-profile slot bracket is pro-
vided. Remove the long slot bracket from the plug-in card and then install the short,
low-profile, slot bracket.
• The two LED connections (5) on the plug-in card are used as access LED (LED flashes dur-
ing read/write access). If you wish to connect LEDs from your PC casing here, ensure the cor-
rect polarity of the LEDs (observe the labelling "+" on the plug-in card). If the respective LED
does not flash during read/write access, turn the plug on the LED connection cable by 180°.
• Connect the power supply connection (1) to an appropriate plug of you PC power adapter.
• Connect multi-pin connector (2) to an internal USB port of the mainboard using the provided
cable (observe the operating instructions of the mainboard!).
The plug cannot be connected incorrectly due to a sealed hole at the plug and a missing pin
on the multi-pin connector.
• Secure all cables so that they cannot slip out of the ports and obstruct a fan in the PC case. Use
cable ties, for example, for fastening.
• Close the computer case.
• Connect your computer and monitor to the mains voltage and switch on all devices.
• If your computer does not start up correctly, switch it off at once and check all the settings and
cable connections.

above!
Driver installation
Windows detects the plug-in card automatically. Insert the driver data carrier supplied into the
appropriate drive on your computer and follow the instructions displayed.
At the time of publishing of this operating instructions, the required driver was stored in
the folder "SATA Express_2Port\Sil3132" (and there in the respective subfolder for the
required operating system) on the CD provided.
It might be necessary to restart Windows before the SATA devices are properly recognised.
Connection of the Power eSATA
Special Power eSATA devices can be connected to both external eSATA ports (see illustration,
positions 3 and 4), e.g. fast eSATA memory sticks but also external docking stations that sup-
port Power eSATA.
Both devices are powered by the internal power supply connection (1). It must therefore be con-
nected to the plug-in card!
Important:
The provided card supplies an output voltage of 5V and 12V to both Power eSATA
plugs.
An external hard drive or docking station with Power eSATA can be operated with
both 6.35cm/2.5" hard drives and 8.9cm/3.5" hard discs!
Although the SATA ports of the plug-in card support hot-swapping, we recommend-
ed for safety reasons that you connect or disconnect external SATA devices to the
computer only when the computer is switched off.
Connection of USB devices
Because both external Power eSATA ports (3 and 4) are supplied with USB signals via the mul-
ti-pin connector (2) and the mainboard, all USB devices can also be connected to eSATA ports,
due to the special plug design.
Do not apply force when connecting a USB device to the eSATA connectors (3 and 4); observe the
correct orientation of the USB plug.
The USB signals are only looped through the plug-in card, so the USB device has a direct con-
nection to the USB port of the mainboard.
Disposal
Electrical and electronic products do not belong in the household waste!!
Please dispose of the device when it is no longer of use, according to the current
statutory requirements.
