Installation
If you do not have the expertise to install the device correctly, please contact
an expert or a specialist workshop and let them carry out the installation!
Incorrect installation can cause damage to the plug-in card and also to your
computer and all connected devices.
Caution, lethal hazard!
Switch off the computer in which the plug-in card is to be mounted and disconnect
all devices from the mains voltage, by unplugging their plugs from the mains socket!
Just turning off at the on/off switch is not enough!
• Open your computer's case and carefully remove the cover.
• Find a free mini-PCI express slot and insert the plug-in card.
If there are screws or other means of securing provided, secure the plug-in card with the
screws or clips.
• Depending on the housing, you can use either the conventional long slot brackets or the short
slot brackets. Many housings even offer direct attachment options for the 9- and 25-pin SubD
connections, so that the slot brackets are not needed.
Connect the connections of the plug-in card with the provided fl at ribbon cables. It is impera-
tive that you pay attention to the fact that Pin 1 must always be connected to Pin 1.
The Pin 1 on the ribbon cable is marked with colour; Pin 1 on the plug-in card is marked with a
small triangular arrow (see also the fi gure below).
Pin 1
Each of the two small pin strips provides one RS232 port; connect them with the 9-pin SubD
plugs using the pole connector/ribbon cable.
The single long pin strip provides the parallel port; connect it with the 25-pin SubD socket.
• If necessary, secure all cables with cable ties, so they cannot obstruct your computer's fan.
• Close the computer housing.
• Connect your computer and monitor to the mains voltage again and switch on all devices.
• If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off immediately and check all the settings
and cable connections.
Before you open the computer again, it needs to be disconnected from the mains
voltage; see above!

Driver installation
• After Windows has started, it automatically recognises the plug-in card as new hardware.
Interrupt the search for the driver.
• Insert the enclosed CD in an appropriate drive on your computer. Alternatively, you can copy
the driver software from another computer to a memory stick; that is, if your computer does
not have a CD/DVD drive.
• Start the "stnsetup.exe" program from the root directory on the CD and follow all of the
instructions. With newer versions of the driver CD, this procedure might be different.
Important
Start the program with administrator rights; otherwise an error message appears or
the installation is cancelled.
You may need to consult the manufacturer's operating instructions in English, provided either
in paper form or in PDF format on the CD.
You may have to restart Windows after installing the driver.

Dispose of the unserviceable product according to the relevant statutory regulations!
