Technical Improvement
The DMR-1608A has been technically improved after
the supplied instruction manual had been printed. The
modifications and additional functions can be found in
the text below.
1 Recording Speed
The recording speed has been increased from 12 im-
ages per second to 18 images per second. The ad-
justing possibilities for the recording speed in the
menus "RECORD" (lines "REC IPS" and "ALARM
REC IPS") and "TIMER" (column "IPS") and the result-
ing recording times can be found in table 1. For audio
recordings, select the adjustment 18A.
2 Motion Detector
If a movement has been recognized (see chapter 9.5.1
of the instruction manual), the internal motion detector
is able to trigger the internal buzzer and/or start an
automatic alarm recording.
2.1 Activating the buzzer for the detector
1) Call the menu "SYSTEM":

2) Select the line "MOTION AUDIBLE ALARM" with
the cursor key "Up" or "Down".
3) Press the key "ENTER".
4) Adjust the option "ON" by pressing the cursor key
"Up" or "Down".

cordings from the standard TV programme. They can be
referred to as reference values.

5) Confirm the adjustment by pressing the key
"MENU".

again.
2.2 Activating the automatic start of recording
1) Call the menu "RECORD":

2) Select the line "MOTION TRIGGER RECORD" with
the cursor key "Up" or "Down".
3) Press the key "ENTER".
4) Adjust the option "ON" by pressing the cursor key
"Up" or "Down".
5) Confirm the adjustment by pressing the key
"MENU".
6) To exit the menu page, press the key "MENU" once
again.
2.3 List of recordings triggered by the detector
In the list of all recordings [SEARCH submenu "FULL
LIST" (chapter 9.2.2)], recordings triggered by the
motion detector are provided with the identification let-
ter "D" for "detector". For listing recordings triggered by
the detector only, call the submenu "MOTION LIST":

"Up" or "Down".
3) Press the key "ENTER". The list of recordings trig-
gered by the detector is displayed:

The recordings are sorted according to the time
when the recording was started. Apart from the
time/date indication, each recording is provided
with the identification letter "D" for "detector". In
addition, the hard disk is listed where the recording
is stored (M-HDD = master hard disk, S-HDD =
slave hard disk).
4) To select a recording, proceed like in the menu
"FULL LIST": Go forward or back in the list with the
cursor keys "Right" and "Left" and select a record-
ing with the cursor keys "Up" and "Down".
5) After selection, start the replay with the start key
or the key "ENTER": The replay will start from the
starting point of the selected recording and will be
continuously replayed to the end point of the last
recording, unless it is stopped with the key
(Replay will not only include the recordings trig-
gered by the detector but all recordings made after
the recording selected.)
3 Compatible Hard Disks
The capacity of the compatible hard disks is no longer
limited to 120 GB. Table 2 lists the types which can be
used.
