CamEvator Lowering Arm General Description:
The CamEvator Lowering arm is a device for improving the installation and servicing of overhead cameras and select video equipment. It allows operators and
maintenance personnel the ability to lower equipment to ground level for servicing.
The lowering arm ships from the factory fully assembled, tested and ready for installation and use. By following the installation procedures which includes mechanical
attachment, power (120Vac; including mandatory GROUND connections), video terminations and camera installation; the lowering arm will be ready for use.
The lowering arm is equipped with a two-way motor that provides the electric actuated lowering and raising operations. The lowering arm is operated on the ground by
the operator through the use of an operator interface key actuated box. The key switch is spring loaded and must be held in the raise or lower position to operate the
lowering arm. Releasing the key switch will discontinue raising or lowering of the arm.
The payload is raised and lowered by a gear motor and a 2-cable lift system. 1 end of the cable is wrapped around the rotating lifting and storage spool and the other end
of the cable is found at a fixed termination in the housing. The camera is lifted at ½ the speed of the spool rotation, due to the dual cable nomenclature. This also allows
the entire lifting weight to be equalized and shared by each lifting cable.
When the Lowering Arm (carriage/payload) is properly stowed in its full up home position, the weight of the carriage and camera payload is held by a solid Stainless Steel
retaining bar, not the lifting cable. The cables are holding the payload weight only during raising and lowering and never while in a static condition when properly stowed
in the lifting arm housing at full home position.
The Lowering Arm is very low maintenance, however, MOOG recommends a series of maintenance and operational checks while on-site operating or servicing the
camera to ensure continued safe and long-term operation of the lowering arm. Please refer to the Maintenance section for further information. In the event you
encounter operating difficulty with your CamEvator Lowering Arm, refer to the Maintenance, Troubleshooting sections of this manual. If your difficulty persists or there is
an unsafe condition, immediately contact MOOG Videolarm at 1.800.554.1124.
