NOTE
Under-voltage protection creates an open circuit, removing voltage from the terminals. With a
lead-acid battery, finding no voltage at the terminals often indicates the battery has reached the
end of its life. With the TI 12V/110 module, low voltage at the terminals typically means the cell
protection circuitry has interrupted current to protect the battery module. Simply connect the
module to a charger to restore voltage to the terminals.

Over Temperature

A battery module has four temperature sensors to measure every cell bank's temperature and
two PCBAs to measure MOSFET temperature. And over temperature protection includes hard-
ware over temperature protection and software over temperature protection.
1) The ideal hardware over temperature protection threshold of cell is around +65°C
2) The software over temperature protection threshold of cell is around +60°C
3) The ideal hardware over temperature protection threshold of MOSFET is around +85°C
4 ) The software over temperature protection threshold of MOSFET is around +77°C
During charging and discharging, when any cell bank's temperature >55°C, warning signal appe-
ars. When any cell bank's temperature >60°C, software over temperature
protection appears, charge and discharge's MOSFETs turn OFF.
When any cell bank's temperature <55°C, over temperature protection disappear, charge and
discharge's MOSFETs turn ON again.
When temperature <49°C, warning signal disappear. When any cell bank's temperature >65°C,
hardware over temperature protection appear, charge and discharge MOSFETs turn OFF.
When the temperature decreases to 55°C, the charge and discharge MOSFETs turn ON again.
When MOSFET's temperature >60°C, warning signal appears. When the MOSFET's temperature
>77°C, OT protection appears (software over temperature protection), charge and discharge
MOSFETs turn OFF.
When the MOSFET's temperature <70°C, OT protection disappears, charge and discharge
MOSFETs are close again.
When the MOSFET's temperature decrease <55°C, warning signal disappears. When MOSFET's
temperature >85°C, hardware over temperature protection appears, charge and discharge
MOSFETs turn OFF. After the temperature decrease to 77°C, the MOSFETs are close again.

Balancing

Over time, the cells inside a battery pack diverge in both capacity and SOC. An advantage of the
TI 12V/110 is the circuitry continuously monitors the capacity and SOC of each individual cell and
balances the battery module to ensure maximum capacity. Completely balancing the battery
module can take up to 48 hours.
